I think ED needs a lot more ambient music for voyages. Supercruise has only a few songs which get repetitive. Variety is the spice of life.

For example:

I think ED definitely needs more epic music for combat.

All I need is 4 or 5 folders called "Exploration", "Combat", "Supercruise", etc. where I could drop any MP3 files I want and in which the game will pick them randomely according to the situation. If they add twenty tracks, I'll get tired of them sooner or later anyway.

This would be absolutely perfect. +1

I very much like the epic/orchestra music, it gives me a feeling of really being in space, don't know why. At first I wanted the opiton of Elite 3 (FFE) music, which was really cool at the time, now I'd like to see a Battlestar Galactica sort of music. But generally, I'd agree that the game would definetely benefit from having more music tracks to play.

I'd very much like Erasmus to come back and do some additional music. What he originally did was fantastic and fitted the game extremely well.

Alas, I've been playing for so long that I've had to switch off the music; not because I got sick of the music, I just needed some variation. I play 20th Century Classical in the background.

idk why our ships can have a 'radio' where we can just surf our own files of music on our computers, or even connect to some kind of internet radio.

No way - as can be seen by the fact that everyone's suggesting stuff: you can make your own personal compilations!

Or listen to one of thousands of radio stations available online, some dedicated to Elite. It's even possible have a cheeky strum on your axe during the frameshift animations...

I hear TS wanted to do a cover.

I feel that while the amount of music for Elite is fine, there really should have been new music included with Horizons, and any new environments that might be added in the future.
if its any interest, I made a thread a while ago asking the community to give me music that can act as a "custom soundtrack" while exploring:

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/241599-Music-to-Explore-to

Its listed in groups of various styles/categories and there's some really great artists there, Enjoy! :)

In the ED OST Exploration soundtrack there are 45 tracks.
Aren't these all played then when exploring?
That is when ED figures you are exploring!

I don't think it needs more music, just play it more often. I sometimes drive for hours on a planet and hear ambient music only when it randomly kicks in for a rare moment.

Definitely.

Especially when mining! I find myself listening to the superb Stellaris soundtrack.

thanks for this one, definatly now on my next playlist when gaming.

I listen to Post Rock Radio like Far Post Radio or Postrock.me

Long Distance Travels starts always with Long Distance Callings' Into the Black wide open
