Does game crash more in Open?

Seems to me it does, anyone else have similar exeriences?

By which I mean crashes every half hour or so as opposed to rarely...

EDIT... Software game crash. Not connection.

I think it does. Don't have hard / scientific evidence but not seldom am I pushed into solo because of stability issues in open.

What kind of crash? I've played hundreds of hours in both Solo and Open and never once had a crash other than about 5 or 6 "matchmaking server not available"

Depends if you mean the "Unable to connect to matchmaking server" - error (or something to that effect) or a Crash To Desktop (where you have to restart the whole game).

The "Unable to connect.." thing happens quite frequently in Open, almost never in Solo.

I haven't had a CTD since Beta in either Solo or Open.

No, been on since BETA and i have had no experiences with crashes in Open, where i spend 100% of my time.

Docking requests, transitions from one area to another and random CTD are more prevalent for me in Open vs Solo. I've had no issues in Solo since the game went live.

I do put most of these issues down to having a slow connection and an ISP who does not care for their rural customers though...

Funny that it crashes. I had some serious broadband connection issues a couple of weeks ago (my ISPs fault), but only got moved back to the main menu after a LONG wait. I think they all said "matchmaking server", but the game has never crashed once for me since Gamma (and that was the notorious crashes from the tutorials only I think)

Each time it does it, I've uploaded a copy of the report that EDclient wants to send, so hopefully it is giving good feedback to FD. It does the same thing when playing in Mobius that it does in Open, but not in Solo, so has to be an aspect of interacting with others.

TBH, I never expected to be able to play with others on this connection. Roll on (end of) 2016 when I'm hoping rural connections will be "super fast" ;P

Elite used to crash for me quite a lot. Let's say once in an hour. sometimes more often, sometimes more rarely. I lowered the OC in my CPU and it has not crashed once since. I had no problems with other games (hundreds of hours of Battlefield for example) with the Overclock I had.
So, at least for me, Elite is the only game where my previous OC wasn't stable
Just FYI in case this might help someone and I only (pretty much) play in open.

I play exclusively in Open, and I haven't had the game actually crash on me since one of the very early Betas.

Sorry I meant software crash i.e. fame locks or ED process just ends.

Seems to happen much more often in Open.

I've not come across crashing issues like that. A few things to consider:

1. Does your machine satisfy FD's minimum hardware criteria?
2. Do you overclock? If you do, turn down your overclocking - the system could be overheating.
3. Is your power supply powerful enough to meet the demand from the graphics card?

Please post your hardware setup.

Keep throwing the error reports at ED. They WILL help narrow these glitchy problems down. If you feel up to the barrage of "try this..." from the community, you could post your system specs in this thread. Sometimes someone else's experiences will help with this type of thing.
As someone who works in IT and as a software developer, if you delete the game and reinstall it (I know it's 4GB of downloads) that might clear up any legacy issues in your installation. Backup your User folder first:
C:\Users\[username]\Local\Frontier Developments
...but try it without restoring this first, in case there's a settings glitch. You can safely restore your keybinds if you've updated them, but I'd try clean, clean, clean first and then move over old settings if you can. :)

I'm honestly not trying to be antagonistic, but this thread isn't going to be helped by "it doesn't crash for me". Sorry, and I did say it on Page 1, so sorry twice. Thinking sideways and being supportive is at least perhaps going to help the OP a little with his issue.
