Horizons Does gravity matter?

I understand you'll start to drop with Flight Assist Off, but when flying with it on, does gravity have an effect on rate of climb?

If you can accelerate faster while diving than while climbing, that may be useful in a (PvP) dogfight. Non-atmospheric energy fighting.

Absolutely, even with FAon on the high gravity planets you'll drop unless you point your main engines to the ground and give them a little gas.

From what I've gathered in the Beta forum. If you are attempting a landing on a high gravity planet, don't even THINK about using down-thrust. If you do, you'll drop like a stone, the bigger the ship, the worse it is.

It does depending on the ability of your thrusters in relation to the strength of the gravity. Remember that FA On flying means the ship is constantly correcting with the thrusters. If they are a bit weak, the ship may preferentially wander towards the surface. Try (as I had) to give full thrust downwards from a height of, say, 5 km. Then apply upwards thrust and see how long it takes the thrust to take effect.

There's a couple of Keelback-shaped dents in the surface of a few moons from my playing around with this during the beta...
