Ships Does Kinetic Resistance and Deep Plating protect against hull damage?

For my Exploraconda build, i was thinking about engineering the standard hull with Kinetic Resistance and Deep Plating. But does that offer any extra damage when i accidentally come in too fast when landing on a planet and the shields fail? Since its the standard hull i dont carry any extra weight and that's why i prefer it over the other hull armors for use on an exploration ship.

don´t for exploration and non combat focused builds go for lightweight aka the normal thing, and deep plaiting. 0kg * 1kg = 0kg you will gain more armor with no aditional weight so your jumprange don´t suffer. I think for rashing only hullpoints count, kinetic damage is in elite only kinetic damage from weapons.

Yes, as they all said.
With four pips on SYS a shield can absorb 2.5 times its base strength in absolute/raw damage, including damage from collisions. What is absorbed by the shields does not go to the hull.
The shield generator and shield boosters can be turned off when not needed.
I fit 0E heavy duty/resistance augmented shield boosters with super capacitor experimental to increase shield strength with little additional mass (+50.7%/+9.7% for 2T/0.5T and 0.25MW/0.31MW each).

Thanks you guys for responding. I think i will go for Heavy Duty with Deep Plating. No additional mass but still 400 extra hitpoints.

Of course, i will still be carefull when landing, but in case i decide to land on a high G planet, i want to be prepared.
