Horizons Does mining asteroids give surface materials?

With this new update, mining rocks in a pristine ring DOES give materials..I have seen lots of iron, carbon, sulfur, and other common materials. I have not seen any rare materials though.

I tried mining in pristine ice and metallic rings, I did not notice that different materials were found. Tons of carbon, iron, nickel, sulphur and so forth - very, very rarely one of the less common elements. I have been dumping a lot of the stuff, as I was getting too close to the 600 unit limit.
