PvP Does range falloff have any effect on phasing damage?

It was already tested, there should be some old, forgotten thread, somewhere within these forums but I am not necromancer... I guess its hidden knowledge now, lol.

Well, jokes aside, phasing used to be a lot more deadlier, also known as one of early enginner OP effects for weapons. After heat meta, I think it was second in terms how OP it was, before nerf "balance" hammer fell down at it.

It does small amout % of dmg from weapon that uses it. That type of dmg is unique as is not affected by falloff, armour value and also any sort of resistances as well... only viable defence from it is to have huge raw hull HP. Like atleast 3k or more. I am not sure myself, I think if it does bleed around of 10% from weapon that uses it, I must admit, that I dont remeber that well about how exact % of bleed it was, but I am sure it was mentioned at some patch notes from balance patches for RNG, many months ago... It should be not hard to find it if would scope back patch notes from that time.

If weapon with phasing as effect, have its DMG increased via modification, the bleed amount of dmg will increase as well, since it does "use" that % from dmg of weapon that uses it.

Only weapons that can use Phasing are PA's, Bursts and Pulses.

With right setup and in skilled hands, bulid that uses phasing can be consider as counter for any type of lighweight high shielded with SCB stack bulids, such as some popular FDL bulids or many of krait-python variants wich against is super effective, and should work well against usual big3 ones... there is lot of these what seems put much SCB's at any possible internals they got, and rightly so, its can be effective if there is no phasing against them, but if there is, if they aint have armour to back it up, they might run of of hull's HP before they burn all thier SCB. Phasing is preety much about putting a lethal DOT (DamageOverTime) over its taget, who is punished for not having enough Hull HP over MJ from SCB.

Due that phasing works only if taget shields are up, it makes is worst choice to put against pure hull-tank like FAS, especially if they aint bother with shields at all. On other hand, go look at CG... I think there would be more of SCB ones over no-shielded ones... Amount of "scb" bulids are always majority, so phasing is quite handy these days.

Funny enough, any krait with lots of scb seems extra weak against phasing, more than any other PVP ship.

Thank you very much for that info.

It was originally 20%, but has been reduced several times (first to 15% then 12%) and is now ~9-10%, according to the most recent tests I've seen.

It's not hard to get even a shield focused setup to the point where phasing is either a waste or a wash against it, but there are still plenty of people who think it's ok to fly around in FDLs with ~600 hull.

Due that phasing works only if taget shields are up

This is something I should have realized sooner, but didn't until recently.
