Does Supercruise need to be faster?

Any nearby planets or stars will slow you down and the closer you are to them the greater this effect becomes.

No they won't slow you down! You would accelerate as you get drawn towards the gravity well, and using this effect you can sling-shot yourself around something with heavy gravity to increase your speed.

This is a common way to increase speed of probes we are sending out through the solar system right now.

I was actually disappointed the first time I played this game and I couldn't sling-shot myself around the different planets to boost my speed

I miss the sense of time in ED.
Our ships can get to another star system's station in 5 minutes, we hardly need a bathroom, let alone sleeping quarters!
Without the time-shift function of previous Elite incarnations, I don't know the solution though.
I do like to moan, but FD have done pretty well given the constraints of multi-player. It's a tricky problem, good luck FD!

In my opinion, in the upper speed ranges of the supercruise are okay. What's critical is the acceleration und slowing down in the LOWER ranges. This is MUCH to slow and lengthy and absolutely needs to be improved.

when you need 3 minutes just to get away from a planet, again 3 minutes to slow down holding your nose straight forward to a station or USS (and nothing interesting is happening in front of you) - that's dull.

the only thing I don't like about supercruise is how long it takes to get from 1 LS down to 1000 MM. It's just too long. Personally I think the speed and range that you can safely drop from SC should be increased.

while were talking about supercruise i'd like it to be populated when I enter, not after I enter a slow stream of ships shows up.

This is one of my oldest and biggest gripes with immersion in the game, I'm current in a 3 billion population system, there are 7 major stations, yet everytime I enter supercruise there is nothing until I afk for 5 minutes waiting for a ship list thats actually full
