Does the amount of commodities sold effect influence gains?

For example, let’s say I delivery a Cutter full of gold and earn 4 million in credits. Will I get a bigger increase in influence than if I flew a Cobra in with 32 tons of gold?

The reason I ask is I have been told that it is transaction based and selling a small amount gives the same influence increase as selling a large amount of cargo at once. Is this accurate?

Thank you! That is a wealth of useful information.

Just to throw in there too, I don't have the reference around, but @goemon (who's account seems to be inactive, or untaggable?) did a huge amount of work.

The tl;dr is very useful

Yeap, that's the one i was looking for, but found the other one first.
However, i noticed in the more recent thread that in Odyssey demand might actually play a role influence gains or did i got that one wrong?

Ian said in the one you linked about 10% gains/losses based on demand, and that might have happened after that thread. @Ian Doncaster ?

They changed the way trade influence worked in Odyssey Update 10
  • Faction consequences from selling commodities are now based on satisfying available demand at the Commodity Market
  • You can now support a faction by buying commodities from it, based upon satisfying available supply at its Commodity Market
  • When buying and selling, it's generally more positive to a faction to satisfy a higher supply and demand (green 3-bar icon) than a lower (red 1-bar icon), and it's generally more positive to trade more expensive commodities than cheaper ones
So that's a lot more recent than any of goemon's research, which would need to be repeated.

There wasn't a big change in aggregate influence movement after U10 so the overall effects of trade are probably pretty similar still - but yes, green/3-bar demand does appear to be somewhat beneficial from research others have done.

I don't think there's been any significant BGS changes since U14 except for the very obvious ones the Thargoids apply, so for now research in Live is probably still applicable to you.
