For XBox (only) it is now included in XBox Game Pass.

well we had a

• free CQC client Imho, dont know if its still accessible
• free copy of '84 Elite in a dos box, if you purchase Elite dangerous.
  • played it a little bit, but the grafics seemed better in the past
• free epic version, gone now.

What free version you mean?
There was separate Arena module once, but I'm not sure if it was free - it has been cancelled as standalone long time ago.

Except for Epic givaway last year (as mentioned above, although it hardly qualifies as game "version") I don't recall any free version. Well, there was Combat Tutorial Demo at some point - I still have it in my game folder, but not sure if it's a thing at this point.

It was a one week deal on the epic game store. If you want to get it now, you need to buy the base game but it's merged with horizons so no need to buy dlc until odysey comes out if you want to.

I'm not sure where you heard there was such a thing, but that information was categorically wrong.

Even the Epic giveaway is still a paid game. It just had a 100% discount for a short time.
