Does the game currently worth it?

Hello.

I would really like to buy this game, but I do not seem to be able to collect enough information about it to give me a 100% decision.

First of all. Does it have enough players? I would be really upset if I realized I bought a dying game.
Is the game regularly updated?
Are there enough features to keep me occupied for 130 hours?

Thank you for your support.

Respectfully
Erik.

The game has only just launched. It isn't dying.
Major Update 1.1 came out last month, 1.2 in a week, 1.3 in another month. ....so yes, its being regularly updated.
The major DLC expansion dates are vague but likely planetary content will be added in a year+ and 1st/3rd person walking around content 1+ year after that.

Its a vast universe though ....thats sort of the point. So other than the core systems and highly populated systems, you stop seeing other people quickly.

As for the 130 hours - very polarised views. I have probably done that already, and I'm still here. Others say it is not even good enough to be called a beta. It really depends what you want from the game. If you want your hand held, you are unlikely to be happy. If you want it all to be scripted, ditto.

Is the game regularly updated? Yes indeed.
Are there enough features to keep me occupied for 130 hours? This totally depends on you. If you like trading and exploring I'd say yes. If you want a campaign mode or any sort of character progression missions, then no. Probably not if you're a pure combat person either.

Best of luck either way!

1) You mean players online? Depends on the location and what time it is. Overall though it is debatable.
2) Very much.
3) A bit complicate. The game as it is lacks depth, substance, actual "meaningful" content. There are several professions and you can certainly keep doing what there is for 130h+. If however it will be "fun", well that's personal.

My opinion? Come back in 3-6months or so and ask us again.

Graphics, sound and immersion, flight model are good, but it severely lacks of depth on every other area. Its a nice and quite pricey (for a) tech demo right now. Its being updated regularly. I'd wait for 1 year or so (At least, wait for planetary landings expansion)

I am freelance / Pirate combat kinda guy. Whenever I play Space Games I try to make money however I can to get my ships into a better combat condition.

So from what you guys have said It seems like this game does not really support this "role".

I have one more question. How does it work currently? When I buy the game, do I have full access to it and I can play it or do I have to wait? Because there are multiple posts talking about BETA and that there are currently enough testers or something...

I can sum it up like this....

- If you find rewards in the moment to moment of the game, then yes, it's worth it (I love the dogfighting and can do that all day)
- If you play for some end reward and don't like the moment to moment play, then give it a pass until it's been out awhile.

If you buy it and download it, you'll be playing today. The only thing you don't have access to is the Beta server which is where people go to test play the next update.

Just remember

1) Open Play - Choose this if you consent to suprise PvP
2) Solo Play - if you are like me and hate people
3) Private play - if you want to play by a set of specific rules set up by the people in charge of a group. There is currently a rather large PvE only group that uses this option.

You will have full access to the retail game

The betas you hear about are for the frequent patches. Those who pre-purchased the game can test the patches 7 days before they go live. That's all. The beta universe is separate from the main one, and is constantly being reset. There is no major advantage to doing the beta except to gain 7 days of experience with any new ships or mechanics

I would say, this game is not even starting to shine yet. Is it worth it? sure the money you pay is very well spend. Will you be disappointed after some time of play? Most likely you will. However FD are doing a great job in fleshing out the game and soon (TM) we will be able to get out of our seats and walk around :)

This game supports the role of piracy and making money wherever/whenever you can just fine.

Part of the problem is that people around here have invested different amounts of money and personal investment in the game due to it being Crowdfunded. I paid $70 Canadian I think, and for the number of hours enjoyed, yes it is worthwhile. However, I'm not sure how I would feel if I had invested $350, and had been part of the early design discussions. You are likely to get many differing opinions

Thanks a lot guys for all the answers. Thank you for your time and support.

I think you will soon have another curious player.

:D

No, it doesn't.
Tried masslocking a bigger ship? You can't. Tried masslocking any ship jumping to another system? You can't. Tried following him with the frameshift wake scanner? Nope, by the time you get there, he's gone or so far outa range that chasing is pointless. But then, since we all travel at the same speeds in SC, chasing is pointless anyway. And if by some made fluke you land in the system before he jumps, guess what? Wake scanner doesn't work in SC. What else? Oh, point defence, THE most logical thing to put on a trader ship will knock out any limpets before they get the chance to latch on. Goods sell at half price. Interdictions will be a criminal offence pretty soon, so even a gentleman pirate won't be able to avoid bounties. Need I go on?
