Regarding Vulture vs Asp as combat ships. The Asp doesn't have any large hardpoints and gets a damage penalty. The vulture doesn't and would tear an asp to shreds.

Unfortunately true. I've barely survived running from Vultures. Jumping out-system is about the only thing that works.
