Does the route planner ensure you run out of fuel at a scoopable star?

Greetings!

Does anyone know if the route-planner ensures you are by a scoopable star when you run out of fuel? I ask because the last 5 runs I have taken, when I have been two jumps from empty I have checked the map and sure enough, the last possible jump on the fuel I have ends up at a scoopable star.

Is it just luck or a programmed feature? :)

Luck. Be. Very. Careful. Otherwise, one day, you'll be sat stationary, with your hazard lights on sheepishly waving at other commanders out of your side window, waiting for the fuel rats to arrive... ;-)

No it doesn't!

But one way you can keep an eye on it is to select only scoopable stars in the galaxy map filter. If you tank starts getting low you can open the map and see if the next jump on your route has a visible star or not. If there isn't, then you know you need to make a pit stop first.

Luck it is then! I usually only panick when I have just one "long-jump" left in the tank. That amount of fuel has always been enough to "economy-jump" to a scoopable star. Haven't had to do it for ages though but that is obviously just coincidence :)

Problem with luck is, it runs out, and at the worst possible moment ;-)

For me it was 90% of the way back to the bubble with about 40m of stacked smuggling missions. Never again.

As crushdepth says, switch to viewing scoopable stars only in the galaxy map, then you *know* if you're approaching a problem or not.

Don't rely on Luck, Learn to know what class scoopable stars are. The way i remember scoopable star classes is........ 'KGB FOAM' These are your friends!!!!!

Have got the stars pre-set in the galaxy map :) Just such a coincidence that the last 5 journeys (at least), the last star on route before the route goes dotted (you run out of fuel) was scoopable, often after 3 or 4 non-scoopable stars. Didn't have to adjust my course once, and thought I might have stumbled upon a feature of some kind ;)

From my experience trying to fly an FDL anywhere, it loves jumping to unscoopable stars. And with a standard 3 jump fuel tank, you have to check your route VERY carefully.
You COULD fit a fuel tank, but then your jump range is even less.
Glad I read about the KGB FOAM tip!

Also, if you mis-jump to a non scoopable star, and you can't jump again, use an advanced disco scanner (never fly without one!) And you may find you're in a binary system and it may have a scoopable star somewhere else.
Saved my bacon twice, before I learned about KGB FOAM.

Not a nice feeling having 1 jump of fuel left and being in a dead star zone... Please let economical route get me to a scoopable star :(
