Does the Sirius Corp 200% exploration profit make it easier to reach Elite?

I just came back from a 6 week exploration trip on Tuesday, and on Wednesday I proceeded to grind merits to reach tier 5. Today's Thursday, I am officially 5th tier, and the bonuses apparently should take effect. However, when looking in the Universal Cartographics page, the price to sell the page is the same as on Tuesday. Am I missing something?

The price displayed by UC is not changed. However, the money you get is tripled. (do & check, for me its what happend)
Also, it contributes to the rating (so Elite is ~60M of base data value. I don't like it too much, but that is how it is).

But you have to grind like hell and pay a lot of money for it. And nobody sees an Elite explorer rank exept for yourself, so I don't really care.
It's the same as the neutron star thing. If you're willing to grind and grind just for the rank, do it. I'm much more happy scanning systems to some detail (not all, who needs 'roids and rocks ;) ) and go fighting some pirates for a a change after I'm back instead of grinding merits.

1) Decals - so people can see it.

2) Access to Shinrarta Dezera. If you are not an early backer, then you have to get Elite in something. For me Explorer is my furthest progressed rank, so its the one that will probably get me access first.

3) You have to risk carrying around lots of data while getting that rank 5. Even in solo, a mishap can happen...

Personally, the time and effort to put in to get Rank 5 while flying around with a load of exploration data is not something i'm interested in. I'd rather just stay out in the black longer and enjoy that.

Now, if there was a cumulative exploration benefit based on rank, then it could be more interesting. Eg: 10% at rank 1, 30% at rank 2, 60% at rank 3, 100% at rank 4, 200% at rank 5....

It's kind of stupid that the people who tend to be away from civilization a lot are forced to participate in PP the most to get any useful bonus.
I rarely see any of the decals of other players so I didn't even think of them as a chance to show off. ;) The 10% founder world discount would be nice but if you have the money to fastrack to rank 5, you probably don't need it that badly.
Forgot about the possibillity too loose it all and I agree with you, it's just not enjoyable. I guess it's more interesting if you want your Elite rank as fast as possible or you're not into exploration at all and want the rank either way.

Little confused about the PP aspect, you have the choice to deliver the 10000t of goods, or can you buy the merits, or both?

You can use Credits to accelerate the amount of goods you are given rather than having to wait 30 mins for each tiny batch. A T9 can then do 10000 in a couple of hours (apparently)

Thanks for clarifying. I have neither the monetary, nor ship assets to do this.
Just started my trip into the black as well.
