Newcomer / Intro Does the "well" in RES eventually "dry up?"

Hi all,

So I finally got the SOL invite and as such am making preparations to chart my interstellar journey. I am saving up credits to invest in a powerful FSD and Scanner as part of my preparation.

Hence I have been lurking around a particular RES that is close to a full-fledged space station (WOHLER Terminal) but I noticed the RES wanted ships in the particular location where I have been frequenting is slowly diminishing and I hardly see Anacondas and Pythons. Is this expected due to my frequent visit to the particular RES? Should I start looking at other RES in the hope of getting larger catches or should I just log in back and forth and just be patient?

Please advise.

Thanks in advance for your responses :)

I believe (in lack of any other evidence) that it is just a case of the random number generator not favouring you, I don't think there is currently a mechanism for a change through player agency.

Yeah it does "seem" to be pure RNG, however, I seem to get a RES site packed with Anacondas, Clippers, and Pythons every time I go to a new system I haven't been in before. These systems tend to also be Anarchy systems with few stations. This usually only happens on the first RES I enter and it's hit or miss if I leave that first RES.

I'm not proud about it because it's not really in the spirit of the game but I'll enter and leave a RES repeatedly until I get one generating big game, anacondas, pythons etc. sometimes you only need to do it once, sometimes I need to do it 4 or 5 times. But it will give you a decent fight eventually.

Thanks for the info!

Don't worry about it not being in the spirit of the game lol, how else can you make any amount of credits? I tried trading, it's very bad at lest in low end ships.

Run the missions or max out your ship for trading only. I started in a Sidewinder with 10T of cargo space.

I farm the same RES in Kremainn. But I stopped using the ones near Wohler Terminal, because I found the RES in the rings around Kremainn 3 have netted me far more in bounties and its right close by. Last night was my best yet in little over an hour I netted about 2.6 million.

Kremainn, Smethells56,Fusang, the list goes on. It's best if the system is High tech because you can put better toys on your ship as you go. Also it's handy to have an outpost in the system to clear a fine if you shoot the wrong person.

When I found my first highly profitable RES, it lasted about a week (1-2 Mil/hr) and then seemed to dry up as well (300K/hr). It was in a perfect location, high tech with all the ships/upgrades, close to an independent system, etc. I decided to move on to a new system after a few straight days of nothing but crappy spawns and angry wings of pirates looking to assassinate me, probably because their crime boss put a bounty on my head. Anyway, I am still not sure, but it might be possible that as you bring more law and order to a system by policing it, the more tame it becomes...

I've had them dry up for a short time but when I investigate distant laser fire, Everything seems to light up again.
At one point, I had 2 clippers, 1 python, 1 anaconda, plus a drop ship or two to choose from.
It was a madhouse I tell ya, a madhouse.

Going out of RES and then back in several times fixes spawn.

The pirates are now so angry with me that I'm being jumped by 2 wings of 3 fighters at a time. I even had to change my weapon loadout to do massive damage in the least amount of time to kill them off quickly. Once you get the wing leader the remaining 2 crafts usually flee in horror as if suddenly realizing they are being that stupid to assault my Fer-De-Lance with their puny Eagles and Cobras.

OI do think there is something longer term changing the spawn rates though as I have witnessed earnings from 1million in 20 minutes to about 1 million in an hour - no jumping in and out. Not seeing any obvious links to system types...

I suspect it's connected to the relative influence of any pirate factions in the system and the security level of the system. If it's high-sec with a weak pirate faction (I've helped grind them to 1% in my home system), I'd expect BHing to offer leaner pickings than a low-sec Federation system with a strong pirate group, for example.

I haven't tested this though; it's just a hypothesis.

My feeling is that they are just randomly generated, but the dice roll is modified by conditions. More CMDRs in an island seems to usually produce better spawns, and I suspect the level of the CMDRs also affects this. I've been in RES areas that were dropping small fry for ages until a couple of Expert or better CMDRs instanced in, then suddenly Clippers, Dropships and Anacondas started appearing frequently.
