Does the XIM matrix with a ps5 elite dangerous ?

Would it be possible to use it to play with a HOTAS and a keyboard with this device ? Im playing with a hotas at the moment but if i could link a keyboard aswell that would make gameplay much easier

It seems Elite is not fully supporting two "controllers" at the same time. I can use my keyboard for the chat box and to enter text in the search boxes but I cannot assign any actions to the keys.

I was aware that it doesn't support 2 controllers, but wasn't sure if using the XIM Matrix could be a possible work round? Thanks for the reply 👍

The problem isn't number of controllers. The XIM Matrix makes that unimportant. ED on console is still limited in the actual number of inputs it will recognize. You will never have more buttons/axes than what what a standard controller offers. The XIM Matrix apparently allows you to split them over multiple devices.

You should consider contacting the makers of the device. That will get your questions answered more reliably, and you'll see firsthand what their support is like. If they can't/won't help you, don't bother giving them your money.

I have taken your advice anyway thanks.
And sent them this

I want to know if you XIM Matrix will allow me to use multiple input devices at the same time, whilst playing elite dangerous on the PS5 ? I believe that the game only supports 1 device so I'm stuck with a hotas joystick or a controller, which limits my input options. Ideally I would like to use the hotas and a keyboard so I can bind alot more individual functions to a single individual key?
Regards
Neil."

Will be very interested to see if you get an answer. I have a set of foot pedals I would love to incorporate with the controller.

Yes MATRIX allows for simlultaneous inputs from different input types. Controller and mouse, gyro and stick, ect.

Though you should know two things.

Not all flight sticks are compatible. If your stick can present as a normal xinput device it should work but not every stick does this. I know the T1600M stick works, I do not know if the separate throttle works or which other sticks are compatible until they are reported by the community.

Two devices of the same input type cannot send simultaneous input. For example, in a HOSAS setup both sticks will send the same xinput joystick input so only one of them can send input at any given time. The second stick’s input would not be used making HOSAS not possible.

HOSAS is possible with two MATRIX units connected together though. Each MATRIX processes an xinput device, the second unit would need to output as a controller (MATRIX will see controller input instead of xinput) to the first unit.

I do not know if this applies to the separate throttle.

My reply-
The stick is TRUSTMASTER T.Flight Hotas 4. I can use it in game. But the game only allows 1 input device as I’m aware and I also want to use a keyboard to bind some of the many functions to keys. Would the matrix fool the PS5 into thinking it is one device and then I could utilise all buttons/axis/keys available toe ? The game is dangerous elite.

And there reply to that-
Simultaneous input from two different input devices is possible. Yes your input will be seen as a controller by the PS5. This doesn’t mean that your stick will be compatible or the throttle can be used at the same time as stick adjustments though, this is something that will need to be tested. If you find that it doesn’t work please let us know so we can update the hardware compatibility list.
SO IM STILL NONE THE WISER

Sounds to me like you need a leap of faith here. I think for my purposes (foot pedals) it would probably work. Now I have to decide if that is the game play I would want. (I do enjoy just hanging on the couch and fly around as opposed to needing to sit in a chair and be glued to the screen to operate the foot pedals)

If you have a T-Flight HOTAS with TFRP pedals, you can combine them together. I have the same setup, but didn't find out about this until after I switched to PC. The instructions can be found here: https://support.thrustmaster.com/en/product/tflighthotas4-en/ (third PDF from the top).

The instructions state this only works on PS4, but I'd expect it to work on PS5 as well. It's a change at the hardware level, not the software level. It apparently has to be done every time the system is powered on as well. That may or may not be a big deal to you.
