Does this game have a future?

I had a look at the steam charts, they don't look good. (Picture Attached).

This is usually the point where games die. Why isn't Frontier dramatically changing its direction? I really want to see this game do well but I fear it might be too late..

In short, yes, I personally think this game has a future. There are at least 2 updates coming to Jurassic World Evolution in the upcoming months, and Frontier has already expressed their intention to continue to support this game and their other games with new content as per their usual strategy.

The decreasing amount of active players is quite common for this kind of game and is (at least for me) no reason for concern. :)

Yes I belive this game could have a future and i belive in frontier, but the truth is that right now the game is starving (dont forget that we are speaking of a game that about one year after the release is still incomplete) , we can all hope on the small update coming ( I belive and hope in the next few weeks) and the one (more promising) coming this early summer .

This is not an indie-dev open beta on steam greenlight: a dramatic change in direction is not coming. Nor is it needed. Also, current active player numbers are irrelivant to any game that isn't an MMO or otherwise reliant on the multiplayer feature. What is relevant is that it's one of the top selling games of the past year: they already have your money, you're not entitled to post-launch support, and yet Frontier has repeatedly said they are commited to it anyway. People have been throwing up steam numbers and declaring this game dead since 2 weeks after launch: it's time for some of yall to find a new arguement.

I don't know I just see a lot of Xbox players playing the game so I'm not sure? However I think this game does have a future and I hope this game gets a sequel since I love Jurassic Park and Jurassic World and it's been a long time since we had content like Jurassic world evolution so yeah I do like this game still missing a lot of parts but I can't wait till summer when the biggest update probably a DLC will come with it and I can't wait for that.

This is a topic that often comes up on the Elite Dangerous forums. "Elite is dooommed!!", despite overwhelming evidence that Elite is still being actively developed by a large project group, and financially good.

Yes, JPE has a future, as do all FD's other games.

These are franchises, which their purpose are for long lived games for multiple years. JPE and all FD games will continue until they are not financially viable.

JPE is helping FD significantly to achieve record revenue and profits, and as of the 1st half financials, FD are on target to meet their financial forecasts. JPE isn't going away soon.

Steam charts obviously don't account for the console platforms...

Yup! Jurassic World Evolution has a great future! We've got exciting things to share with you later on with a small update in April and more exciting things in early summer and beyond.

this is promising. haven't been here in three months now. still getting used to the new look of the forums. also i am still having the crash on startup with the newest nvidia driver updates if it's still a thing hahaha. hoping for terrain tools and bigger maps, i missed playing JWE.

I guess it depends on what they do. Love the game but it’s gotten stale. I thinks it’s rumored that Prehistoric Kingdom drops this summer as well. From what I’ve seen that game is what jwe should have been. Still excited though to see what gets released this month.

First off to get PK out of the way, realize it has taken many many years to get to what will be a very basic early access release. These are a small group of inexperienced almost kids really. They have said AI and such will be very basic when EA hits. Summer 2019 is only what they are shooting for and quite possibly will not make it, they have little done of the animals to be in-game as shown in progress bar.

I'm just saying, everyone talks about that game like it is going to be the savior, mark my words, it will take a LOT of time to get to the point you are all so hyped about, IF they can manage to do so.

As for all of the stupid, "this game is dying" talk, if you don't understand how things work normally, generally people buy a video game. They usually play them for a month or something, maybe a few, and that is the end. On the other hand, this game is a bit like "The Sims" in that it will continue to receive updates, expansion, content, etc. for a while. So no it is not dead.

PK looks pretty good so far for a group of “kids” that put it all together. I thinks it has been around five or so years in development so I’m really hoping it’s going to be amazing. I am kinda doubting that they will make a summer release but who knows. The last thing they need to do is rush it. Their basic animal AI from what I’ve seen already blows JWEs out of the water in terms of animal personality. They look and actually seem alive. Also, sooo many customization options. Something people have been wanting from JWE from the start.
I do agree with JWE not being dead. Would have been nice if more content was released over the course of the year though to keep people interested. I do love the game, I love dinosaurs, but maybe I just expected more from Frontier being partnered with Universal and all.

It seems they have professional support now. My bro and I suscribed to their developer newsletters ages ago and it really makes all the wait worthwhile to hear what they are up to and having brilliant testing of it. They're pre-alpha already updated at least once and I enjoyed their Gallimimus flocking a lot.

So true, but I don't think they will. Anyway, looks like they will continue to support the game too.

Agree. In my opinion, Frontier's biggest mistake is to keep it all so secretive. People can't stop hyping too much about what they like to see, even if it isn't even plausible, so that naturally all kinds of disappointment occur eventually. I also understand they not wanting to share things so early to avoid providing false hopes but, you know, they seem to be happening anyway with this kind of unidirectional feedback

Please read the last five years of the Elite Forums. :)

It's going to happen either way, but less so if stayed silent in my opinion. It just feels so much because of how things spread easily in the internet and social media pages in general.

While I understand some indie game developers are generally active about what to expect and showcase before release, mainstream game developer companies generally stay silent on so many things for very good reasons, even if they might not seem fair for some. I work in and with large mainstream business environment, so I can relate how Frontier Developments stay silent on so many things.
