Does using neutron/white dwarf FSD boost put you at risk of permanent stranding? Unable to get back

I haven't used a neutron boost yet - I assume the charge only boosts your FSD for a single jump. But if that's a case, presumably you can get permanently stranded if you're in a thinner area of the galaxy?

How do people avoid this? Is it just a basic safety precaution to never use a FSD charge-boost in an especially thin area of stars?

Yep, it is a real risk if you use it to go somewhere you couldn't otherwise reach. If you are using it to speed travel in a region with plenty of other stars then that's fine. But if you are using it to get to an otherwise impossible to reach area then you need to make sure that there is a neutron star there to return from or else accept that it is likely a one way trip.

Bear in mind that there is still a current bug that hasn't been fixed yet. If you get a server disconnect when in a NS system, upon reloading the game, you are placed in the jet stream, in normal space with your ship taking damage......BE WARNED!!

So this is not fixed yet? Pity, I'm close to one of the Neutron fields near Sag A*.

I was yesterday in a system with a black hole and two neutron stars. The last NS was about 570 000ls away but I decided to scan it as well. Of course I got a disconnect just as I had travelled some 500 000ls.

On reload I was safely in between those two NS's, over 200 000ls away from both. Decided to call it quits and jumped away. But I guess the respawn is not automatically in the cone

Believe a workaround is to supercharge the FSD, get clear of the jet cone before dropping out of supercruise to normal space and then plotting your boosted jump. That way if you get a connection error the server remembers your position at the last transition point when you dropped. Of course you still run the chance of being out of luck if you get a connection drop between the jet cone and dropping to normal space...

The thing with the issues i had was that I supercharged in the stream, then moved onto the first planet, scanned that one then I was on my way to the second planet when I got the disconnect & then put back 1500LSs into the stream - this is unreasonable! I could understand it if I was in the vicinity of the NS, but I'd moved on & was exploring the system.

@Rulyam. The fact that the BH could have been the primary star could have saved you from the stream re-load. Iv always thought that scanning another star would neutralize the problem, as I have had disconnects before & been safe on re-load.

Im certainly not going to risk this issue while packing exploration data, i'll take the shorter jump range route until the issue is resolved - collecting even more data scans in doing so.
