Newcomer / Intro Does Voice Attack set up wipe out Throttle and Joystick Bindings?

Morning All,

Over the last day or so I have managed to pretty much run ED's menus and in game ship functions by a CH Pro Throttle and CH Combatstick, not exact but close enough

Now that I have those bindings I don't want to lose them - but am interested by Voice Attack for additional functionality

So my question is.... Does the addition of Voice Attack make me lose my current CH bindings....or can you have an additional control 'profile'??

Thanks again guys, maybe see you out there....

VA will do nothing to your controls, its not a controller as such and will not be recognized by ED so all your bindings are safe. You will have to set up VA to work in conjunction/concert with your control option, be it Mouse/Kb/insert other control choice.

VA works outside of ED and is basically a voice command that it understands converted to a keypress which the game understands.

All VA does is press a certain key or combination of keys on your keyboard, it doesn't interfere with the game in any way. Just check what key is assigned to a specific function in ED, than map that key to the voice command of your choice in VA.

I have not seen VA change any settings in Elite, it only does what you tell it to do.
You might want to look under options to turn off short cuts for mouse and joystick. Though I am sure these are off as default.

It might 'override' some uses in the game though.
For example. If you have set your throttle controller to full, and you order Voice Attack to set speed to 75%, then your speed will be set to 75% even though your controller is still at 100%.
But that is only a very small annoyance. Lowering your throttle controller, and putting it back to full again will override the VA 75% command.

With that sort of setup. .. I would only be using VA to execute auxiliary commands like docking request, gear etc and leave flIght controls to your stick/throttle
