Does your fuel load affect your handling?

Does less fuel make you more maneuverable? I switched from a 16T fuel tank to an 8T one (I have a Cobra), but I can't really feel any difference in fights. (Both times the tanks were full.)

Or is the effect just too small to actually feel it? If yes, does a full 8T fuel tank affect the ship's maneuverability exactly the same way as a half-empty 16T one? (Meaning 8 tons of fuel in both cases.)

I can only see a very small difference in jump range between the two, but when it comes to ship handling, they don't seem to differ for me...

Yes, a little. Fuel is no different than other "mass" on your ship so with less fuel the flight model is improved slightly. Test it with your top boost speed, you should notice a slight speed increase. Handling might be harder to actually tell the difference though. :)

I look at your ship like a racing push bike, if you can shave weight in any area's it will make your ship manoeuvrability better. It stands to reason that thrusters have an optimal mass, if you reduce that mass of the entire ship further then they should be overpowered....this might however produce the effect similar to dropping a Porsche engine into an old VW Beetle (same engine mounts). This produced an overpowered Beetle with a better top end but worse handling, and often required concrete ballast to counteract the weight of the new larger engine.

All depends in what you want in a ship, I am still tuning mine but dropped my large fuel tank on my Cobra for half the size as only travelling in a 30Ly area at the moment. Nothing noticeable but I didn't do any turn tests or anything, I know the overall mass dropped though.

In that case, I might just as well keep the large tank, but don't fill it up; keep it at 30-40%. Unless I'm planning a big trip. It looks like this should work then, because the tank itself says "0T", so it doesn't weight anything.

for me in the ASP, with 32 tons of fuel i can boost up to 390, while almost empty, i can boost up to 394, meaning it affects a little, and that little helps
