Newcomer / Intro Doing a fresh install what files to keep?

Hi,
Will be building a new PC next week and was wondering a there any files I should copy on to the new install?
Joystick configuration would be nice but where will I find it? Any other files I should keep?

Cheers

When I installed it on my backup machine I just copied over C:\Users\ME\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\ all of it.
N.B. Had to do it AFTER the game had ran once and set up this folder on it's own.

Since the game uses an independent launcher, you could try copying over the entire game folder on your drive (e.g. mine is D:\EDLaunch), downloading the launcher/installer, choosing custom location to install to, point it to the EDLaunch folder and see if it just validates the files rather than downloading them.

The game files download from the ED servers is painfully slow - I have a gigabit connection and it took well over an hour to download the last (~3.5GB) patch.

The process I outlined above works with Origin games (BF1942, BF3, BF4, Wing Commander II, Dead Space, etc.) Perhaps it will work with Elite and save you a bunch of download time.

What system are you upgrading to?

Well atm I'm on a Q8300 processor with 4gb of what I think is 333mhz ram and a Fanless HD4850 Graphics card. It's actually a 10ish year old Tescos Medion and I put the card in myself.
I'm going to an AS Rock mobo, AMD FX4350 Black with a closed system water cooler, and 8gb Corsair ram, both clockable. R7 260X 2GB and WD 1TB Caviar Blue. Plus all new case/mouse/ keyboard, PSU etc. On a budget, but I can upgrade this time as funds allow. Also bought AOC 24inch monitor which I love.

I'll try copying everything over see what happens, should be OK. If not a reinstall can be done no problem.

Cheers

Probably not directed at you but others that may peruse this thread.

On WIN 7 Do not install games in default Program Files (x86) folder. Administrative rights can show up to be a real pain.

I think Hardwood has the best answer although I have not tested.
