Donate to the war effort missions...

Not seen this mentioned before but anyone done one of these yet? Not about to give away 4 million but just seen one for 40k which was directed at my home system and had the dosh so donated. I presume their must be some hidden benefit to this?

Sounds like it may be a way to line things up for a civil war. I suggest you pay and see what happens... watch your faction standings tho. It's not yet clear how things operate, but we can test theories. Oh yeah, if you do it, watch the influence each faction has in system too. It may only affect that.

Well ive paid my 40k and await developments!

Will be no use at all in a fight and always travel unarmed but happy to help with the trading...

Mikey, did your faction standings change at all? Should be a blue or red arrow on the right hand HUD beside one faction or another if so. Also, did system control % on the map change for any of the factions? I've been trying to figure out how much manipulation is in our hands, but the opportunity you have has eluded me thusfar.

A blue arrow appeared for me when I paid the 40k. I didn't look at the system control %. I'll be sure to look next time.

Ok will check this out when next in ... Just had an identical mission going back to the other of my main stations which are next to each other in the same system, one agricultural one industrial and im allies in both. Im surprised this hasnt been brought up by others as im sure it isnt just me. Or is it something that has spawned specifically due to my style of play?

What I am noticing is that we can affect the standings of different factions by trading with them. For example, if the station you trade with is allied with the feds, then you get a little boost when you trade with or help that station. In Lave, the rare goods trade has apparently driven factions competing with the alliance faction to civil war. Now... the question is: How do we harness it??? The mechanic is there, but does it do more than "look good"? My experience of past iterations of the game tells me DB thinks things out very carefully. Need more data! Need more poking and prodding!

A manual??? Real men don't read manuals, they hit it with a hammer!
