Hello all, 1st post so bear with me....

In any case, I am hoping someone can help me with this, give me some pointers or shed some light. It's extremely frustrating to seemingly waste game time trying to find a mission that I may or may not be eligible for. And, if not...at least some indicator of what the heck I need to do to start ranking up!

I keep seeing these threads and I think it's worth taking a step back and thinking about the bigger picture.

The Empire and Federation are huge organisations with thousands of affiliated, smaller groups. It's these groups that we deal with. If you gain a good reputation with a few of the smaller groups the larger organisation notices you. The small groups recommend you as a trustworthy pilot to the larger organisation. The important thing is to keep doing good things and don't do bad things.

Do
Take and complete missions for a local affiliated faction
Do not
Take and complete missions for other local factions
Take and fail to complete missions for your chosen faction

If you get interdicted by one of the faction you are working with do NOT kill them, flee.

If you get interdicted by one of the rival faction do kill them.

When your reputation will not go any higher with your chosen group move to a neighbouring system and repeat.

Periodically you WILL be offered ascension missions. If this doesn't happen check you are following the above.
