Dont collect "thargoid sensors" from non human signals

o7 commanders.

Just a little warning, i sneaked a "thargoid sensor" from a non human signal source.

The flower got angry right away and i assume he called for at least one more friend (did not saw two when entering)

My systems went crazy, and not just due their temporany disabeling effect, booster did not worked anymore, ship flew only at half speed (no gear out or scoop open)

I tryed to eject the stolen cargo too late, my hatch was already disabled, at the end i lost 28 milion rebuy costs.

I will try again but will defenitely when i have a corrosive resistant cargo... and 28 more milions.

Lets see what comes out.

I was carrying around one in my humble Cobra MkIV with anti corrosive racks. Not a single hyperdiction and also survived a number of encounters.

I took one... we played tug o war with it.... I swooped in and shot a collector at it... then swooped back to pick it up.
I had the same experience... systems shut down.. FSD shutdown... only I was in my dolphin and got a boost in before my stuff shut down at >500m/s
Got out of range, systems online, Jump out!!!

I could make it out (no failures), but accidentially broke it into a Fragment before scooping. Now it has vanished, maybe the Thargoid hatch broke it from me before I could escape?

Intersting .. anti-corrosion provides anti-Tharg stealth shielding?

Hmm, interesting. Perhaps they become a little more deadly after you steal their stuff... Will give it a try :)

<Reward> for the first to rescue 5 escape pods before Thargs can scoop ...

PM me links to a reasonable amount of proof (video or a screenie of 5 Thargoids + timestamp .. and 5 timestamped screenies of pods in hold) and I'll buy that person a paint-pack of their choice ..

my family of 5 were sold into slavery .. and need rescuing.

I had a double corrosion resistant cargo bay and picked one up just now.

My wing mate picked one up as well, but without resistant bays, he complained of module malfunction, and when I got back to Obsidian Orbital realised these things are like UA's.

I dumped it in a crater and advised my mate to do the same. I think he only just managed to get rid of it before total system failures.

Question, when you come across these Thargoids trying to scoop stuff up, what happens if you SHOOT the stuff (& destroy it) before they finish collecting it?

I mean, if you were tried to take the last of grandma's cookies from me, I'd still have a chance of getting back from you. But if you destroyed that cookie so neither of us could get it... OOOOH I'd be triggered like nothing else.

Just curious. :)

I tried getting in its way, video is now uploaded below.

Seems to attack if you get in the way of it's tractor beam, but did not destroy my ASP - it just shot a lot of probably heat damaging drone missiles in short bursts until I was out of it's range and jumping back into SC.

It didn't try to pursue me, presumably the ship just went back to it's business.

Even though these set pieces are scripted, I think there is still some behavioral variation evident when you visit these signal sources, so a slightly different experience each time the player tries something different.

I collected several Thargoid Sensors from right under the noses of Thargoid ships in Non-Human Signal Sources this week. I went in there specifically looking for them though, I dropped in, confirmed a UA, immediately scooped it while the Thargoid was moving to grab it, then boosted and waked out of the instance. Pretty reliable system ... in a ship that can boost over 500 :p

My buddy and I have managed to reliably take all probes/sensors and escape pods from encounters by baiting them away.

Here's what we do:
Use a wing of 2 ships, 2 is all you need.
Drop in and come to a complete stop, let the Thargoids scan you.
One of you is the thief who should now back away out of the Thargoids sensor range.
The other is the bait, who should now wait for the Thargoid ships to be relatively close to each other.
Once they are pretty close together, the bait blasts past them with hardpoints out, crossing through their tractor beams if possible.
They should all follow the bait with all of their attack drones, as long as the thief waits for them to be completely out of range before looting.
If done correctly, they will continue to pursue the bait, as long as the bait doesn't lose them.
The thief now has at least 5 minutes to get absolutely everything. Can get as many as 3 probes/sensors and 3 escape pods, plus normal loot.
Rinse. Repeat. Profit.

EDIT: Almost forgot to mention: If you haven't already done so, take precautions against corrosion. I'm using C hull reinforcement and cargo bays. If you really want to go all out, you can use the corrosion resistant cargo and hull reinforcement, plus a shield bank or two and a repair limpet and you can pretty much do this over and over until your hold is full, without taking any serious damage. With a shield bank and bi-weave shields and decent corrosion protection, you can lead the Thargoids all day as long as they don't corner you.
