Don't leave your ship on the landing pad when reactivating settlements!

Hey folks,

Just a quick PSA if you're reactivating settlements in Post-Thargoid Recovery systems - I landed my Cobra on the landing pad & decided to leave it for quick getaway in case of a potential Thargoid lurker (you never know) & upon reactivation I got fined for pad blocking which swiftly turned into a bounty and the settlement defences went from green to trigger-happy red rather quickly. Best perhaps to park outside or dismiss and recall!

Also, don't park too close to the buildings. You will be tresspassing when the settlement is activated, you know the rest of the story.

If you request docking permissio, you have no issues.
However, if you just land on the pad (without requesting docking permission) is just like getting into the station mailslot without getting permission.
You get fined, then you get shot at.

I always get docking permission and, being the lazy git that i am, i usually let the ADC do it's job while i enjoy the scenery.
Only very rarely i manually land outside the landing pad, usually when the landing pads are too far from the building i have business with.

However, dismissing the ship after landing is always a good advice. Sometimes lots of scavs will drop by, some other times it's the Thargs.

Docking was unavailable & offline, it was a restore power mission................................................................................................................................................
....and there it is! LOL

Well, that's a bit weird.
I did a ton of restore missions and they do feature docking pre U14

This might be new for Settlements in Thargoid attacked systems.

Seems they have changed it for Post recovery. Regular offline stations still give docking access. I guess it should be bug reported, although I wouldn't try to land if no clearance is available.

Yep, Apex doesn't go to the abandoned post-recovery settlements either or this fairly idle Cmdr certainly wouldn't have flown there! It's definitely new for the post-14.02 war effort.

Docking was unavailable & offline, it was a restore power mission to an abandoned settlement in a post-Thargoid recovery system so it never occurred to me that there might be an issue on power-up, that's all. Thought I'd save some folks some avoidable bother is all.
I've never encountered docking being offline, even if the settlement's reactor was. If you request docking, and it is denied (or it doesn't even give you the option to request, which would be VERY new), then don't land at the pad and land somewhere nearby. If, as you're touching down close to the the base, you get a trespass warning, lift back off, move a little further away, and try again.

I deal with offline settlements all the time, as well as ones that don't have a big enough landing pad, and the above tips do the trick 99% of the time. The other 1% is for a settlements where the pad is too small for ship, and the terrain nearby is really rough and I can't get close enough for trespass warnings. In those cases, I find a spot as close as I can (sometime a 1-2 km away) and drive in on SRV.

These are not the regular to-be-powered settlements, they're still in their Thargoid system-occupation state of abandoned and entirely offline. They are indeed very new, it's the 14.02 "restore settlements to reduce system recovery time" missions.

Ok, then land nearby, but not on the pad. Hopefully this is a bug that will be addressed. If it is working as intended, they should probably make this change for all settlement restore missions (and alert everyone to the change). I always thought it was odd that not only did the automated traffic control work with no power, but you could often refuel your ship too!

But to be clear: are these in "Recovery state" systems or actual "invasion" systems? I thought the new missions were supposed to be in the former and speed that up and not the latter. If they are giving these missions in invasion systems to help with invasion (one of my feeback suggestions), that is really cool... though also going to be really dangerous as you'll either need to be REALLY fast or need to dismiss/recall your ship as the Thargoids will show up and blast your ship and/or SRV.

Thargoid stuff does something weird to stations too.
For example, in a system in Alert, i could no disembark and someone which was on foot in that station (prior of getting into Alert state) could not access elevators to get to their ship. They had to log in Horizons to get back to the ships.

Recovery. Just to be clear, I don't think this is a bug at all nor am I scratching my head about it, I wanted to get out of Dodge asap because I really got the creeps in the previous one - I used the torch rather than IR for the amosphere and became very aware of just how many places a potential lurking entity could secret itself for a nasty surprise. I didn't give the empty pad a second thought as I approached the evacuated, abandoned and thoroughly offline settlement with my focus on a surpassing swift turnaround so when the power returned I was legitimately blocking the pad. Just in case anyone else had a similar train of thought I made an attempt at a PSA.

I'm over in Colonia sector doing as many reactivations as I can. I usually get a 'pad loitering' fine after reactivating the settlement. I have started to 'park' offsite to avoid this.

And here I've been parking offsite because I've always assumed that docking would be offline if the settlement was offline. I could have been using the pad this whole time?
