Don't log out in your SRV.

Every time I log out in the SRV, I fall through the planet when I come back. It isn't just random... happens every time. I have to self destruct to get out.

You don't have to self destruct. Just log out to the desktop and restart in a non-Horizons mode. You'll be above the planet in your ship. Then log back out and restart in Horizons. You'll still be above the planet, but you don't have to die.

First....true, do not log out in your SRV...its a roll of the dice.

Second, don't self destruct. The workaround is to log out and login using the non-horizons version of the game. It will port you to your ship in orbit. Log out and back into Horizons....all is well.

It's kinda random for me. About half the time I fall through the terrain, log out and logging back in usually fixes it.

Has happened to me 4 times so far. Logged back in several times but still stuck.

Had to quit, run the base game which would place me back in my ship above the planet i was on.

Yowza thanks for the warning I don't think I have had the issue but have had issues with my ship getting stuck with planetary mesh and buildings. It took me 30 minutes one night to unstick my Corvette after I got through doing a lot of missions. =/

What happens if you allow the srv to fall? Do you pop out the other side at the same speed you fell in?

It's the opposite for me. Several times now I've deployed the SRV and been immediately placed below the surface - and falling rapidly. A quick log off to the menu and back in has fixed things every time and placed my SRV back on the surface.

Last time I tried, it seemed this was a known problem. Admittedly it was a long time ago, maybe it was partially fixed : I'll check again.

Indeed and that's what I used to do, but it happened to me in Engineers and the game told me that my version of the client wasn't compatible with my location in the game or something like this. Which is logical and probably prevent some exploits, but was the end of my workaround for this problem.

thanks for the heads up, this was not happening to me pre engineers, but I will not 'chance' it now and will wait until it is listed as patched / fixed before I logout while planetside... I used to log out planet side all the time without incident...

I logged out once with the ship landed on the planet. Came back to find it half buried in planet and unable to take off. Oops.

The log out trick with non horizons worked for me too thanks
