Remember, the access requirements for Engineers only begin to track once you have unlocked the requirement. Meaning that the requirements for Wellington Beck have not begun until you completed the referral requirement from Hero Ferrari.
I'm confused, are you giving bottom hat your stuphz or not?
And therein lies the problem. You shouldn't be aware of this from public knowledge, you should be made aware of this from in-game knowledge. The sequence for unlocking is:
Get referred
Sell stuff/do something
Engineer unlocked (relogging may or not be required).
I believe there have been posts/comments and possibly "how to unlock engineer videos" about not selling stuff etc until you have had the referral. Could be wrong, but I for one was aware of this issue from public knowledge.
Steve 07.
The game doesn't tell you to sell that stuff to the barman before it will count. So the game is fine ... it's the 3rd parties that are the issue. And therein lies the problem. You shouldn't be aware of this from public knowledge, you should be made aware of this from in-game knowledge.
Having new ranks unlocked or not however, doesn't affect gameplay to the slightest. I'm not sure why people are upset at not having them applied retro-actively (and yes, I would've unlocked a few of them as well otherwise).Yep, just like how the thousands of system data you sold, millions of ships destroys, or billions you made before Oddy don't count to the new ranks.
That's what I was thinking, I can't recall exactly if you are aware in-game. I'm pretty sure I got it from Inara back then and decided not to sell anything until A) I had 25 of those and B) I was informed I needed to sell them. The game doesn't tell you to sell that stuff to the barman before it will count. The Colonia engineers they are adding next will will make this fun - as they will probably use similar mechanisms (nothing counts if sold before asked) and they will undoubtedly use some of the 'useless' stuff. I predict lots more rage threadsI have always been very jealous of my materials in Odyssey and never sold any unless I knew they were useless
Yes, it's again poor and inconsistent design, but unfortunately you get used to it and take precautions. The inconsistency between the new Engineers and the old ones is a bit baffling, to be honest, but not unexpected.
