dont want to travel too far from my home base

So I got my viper kitted all out, trying some combat . But for some reason am a little bit bothered about traveling far far away from my base where my type 6 is, as it means if I want to trade more I got to maybe take an hour or so to travel back just to use the type 6. Is there any way around this or is it just the way its meant to be. Thanks

It's ok to not want to go too far. But part of ED is being able to get out there and see what's what.
You can travel for a couple of hundred light years and there will still be stations and outposts to dock at so you're not going to be too far from civilisation.
You can do a bit of traveling and equip yourself to make sure you don't fall into any of the big traps waiting for you.
Make sure you have a fuel scoop for one thing, shields for another, and good boosters to get you out of trouble quickly.
If you want to travel for a hundred light years or so to get a feel for things and make some money into the bargain, you can try you're hand at trading in rare items.
That way a round trip of about 300 ly will make you about a million credits if you take your T6.
I say use the T6 because it has a much better jump range than the Viper.

Getting out there and seeing a bit of the galaxy is what it's all about. Find your niche and build your game from there.

It's fine being a homebunny and not sticking your head out of your little warren, there should be plenty of opportunities for combat where you have set yourself up.
