Don't you just hate it when....

You've just spent at the last 3 hours in a High Intensity RES site carefully picking off high target pirates like anacondas, pythons and federal drop ships with the aid of the friendly system authorities, accumulating more than 5 million credits in bounties and rewards, and you notice the time is nearly 2am.
You decide you've had enough so lower your weapons and point towards the nearest space station to dock and claim your bounties, when suddenly, another python appears that looks ripe for the picking and you think to yourself 'bah, what the hell, one more for the road'. So you change direction, deploy the lasers, and starting taking out that juicy python and just when it's down to about 1% health, a friendly green security service anaconda strays infront of your laser beams and literally gets hit with a single measly blast of your lasers and all of sudden you've been slapped with a 125cr bounty and wanted sign over your head!
Seconds later, the python is finished off, and those blood-thirsty system police comprising of dozen or so anacondas, pythons and vipers turn their lasers to you, and you literally have nowhere to go cause they're all around you and all your fully charged shields on your helpless little vulture are suddenly gone, and crackling sounds and warning lights are going off all over your cockpit.
There's nowhere to run, no amount of pips to thrusters can save you now as they are swiftly taken off line as you frantically hit the up arrow key slam the tab key to get out of there... your hopes and heart sink as the hull damage slowly reaches zero, and then... that ominous voice comes over the comm as you cast out in the dark void of space in your escape module and all your hard earned credits into the blackness of the night.
And then to rub more salt into the wound, you appear in space dock with an insurance claim of another 900,000cr, just to really kick you in the nuts and say "There, that'll teach you to take out another one for the road. You should have gone to bed!"
Man this game drives me up the wall sometimes... but here we are, it's the next day... time to grind it out all over again.

Yep done that myself a few times!

The worst such occasion was when I was still relatively new to the game with a poorly rated Vulture. I'd been killed about 7 times the day before in Res sites, got up the next day all positive and determined to make up for what I'd lost, went back to the same Res site with a plan 'only go after the ships that the cops are shooting' I thought. About 6-7 hours later still in the same Res with big spawns and with what must have been about 18 million in bounties in the transactions tab, I got too confident with an Elite Python, he stripped my shields in seconds and I was about to high wake outta there, panicked and boost turned straight into an asteroid.....Booom! Noooooo!

All those credits and time wasted!

I rage quit that day lol.

But it boy did it teach me a thing or two, I reckon I must have lost over 100 Million in bounties in my early days on that good old steep learning curve!

Ouch, nasty, been there, and had a narrow escape on Sunday. Made about 9 mill in a hi-res in not much more than an hour in one of the best spawns I've ever seen. Was just finishing off a wing of two deadly pythons when - virtually static I might add - I heard a loud clang, followed by a comms msg saying something like, 'I'm hit, I'm hit', shortly followed by an explosion off-screen and a 6,000 credit bounty for cop murder.

At this point, about 6 fed NPCs, mostly anacondas it seemed turned on me. Of course, I'm mass locked by all these ships and right in the middle of a res ring (plus the usual panic of...whaddya mean I can't jump away, oh, hard points, sure...try again)

Still not sure how I got out of there in one piece, but was certainly a sour end to the evening, though appreciate could have been a whole lot worse.

Worse still, got to the local coriolis, requested and was granted docking permission, then get scanned as was going through the slot. Docking permission was seemingly revoked as I reach the back of the station, gaining me another fine and a short period of time to get out the station before being blown to smithereens.

I didn't want to sidney-the-suicidewinder it as had a few million in Fed and Empire bounties stored up for collection at some later date.

All because some dumbass fed (who must have been virtuyally dead already hull-wise) can't fly properly, sheesh.

I know, but it's a gambler's mentality...just one more...have even been known to join a bunch of feds when my shields are down and they're pasting a FDL because they're such good money, that can get a bit hairy, especially as I'm hostile to one of the local factions, so sometimes a fight pops up that I wasn't expecting!

Been there, done it, got the t-shirt!
I also go back to claim bounties after a maximum of 2 hours. To wait longer is to invite trouble.
I, too, am hostile to a local faction in both the places I normally go to.
You will get an additional 6000 (usually) bounty if the ship you slightly singed dies before you high-wake out. Meaning you have to wait, usually 6 days, to return. However, if it goes to Dormant, that's another 7 days, iirc.
I wish there was a place, or places, to go to pay off your bounties, even if you had to pay double the amount. I'd definitely use it from time to time! As it is now, I may not have access to some of my ships, that are parked in the system issuing the bounty(ies).

I've done that loads of times, but in my FDL, I can normally get away before the first ring of my shields has disappeared.

Another frustrating thing is when you've been at it for a full three hours and got 10,000,000 in vouchers, when you see a poor mining Cobra under attack from an Anaconda. The Cobra's hull is down to about 50%, so you decide to rescue him and start giving the Anaconda what he deserves. After about 10 minutes of getting the Anaconda from every angle, it's down to about 10%, so the end is in sight. The Feds are circling behind you, but not taking part. You line up the Anaconda for that final knockout strafe and pull the trigger, when, suddenly, the Cobra, who's now down to 5%, decides to jump in the way. Boom! "Wanted"! Sh!**, F@**! Run!

What's worse is that you can't even cash in your vouchers for a week, so you have to be careful not to take any risks that will lose them. All very frustrating, but if we didn't have these things, it would be very boring.

I think I'll get an egg timer and rename it to "hand in your bounties time timer!"
ps...
It's 2am the following night... I've made it back to spacedock without a hitch, made last nights lost 5mil back and another 2mill as bonus, so all's well again.
:)
