Double Damage Star Wars game pitch

Honestly looks awesome. Apparently they put it together in 2-3 weeks to show off to EA as a probable new SW themed space shooter, but it never amounted to anything.

Looks awfully a lot like Fields of War, the Star Wars Freelancer mod.

Which isnt a bad thing.

They probably used what they have lying around, the engine and the ui is Rebel Galaxy for sure for instance. Not sure where the models came from. But it did give me a more modern Rogue Squadron vibe. But I guess it didn't have enough lockboxes in it :p

I wouldn’t be surprised to find out it was Disney who blocked development as it looks quite good and that would clash with their apparent desire to systematically rewrite and destroy the Star Wars franchise. If it’s going to be made it would have to be a direct rip off of the original three movie plots, thus removing any need for new scripts or innovation of any sort.

This is basically rebel galaxy modded.
But as a rebel galaxy player I can confirm this is a crying shame.

"This is footage from a game pitch from 2016. It isn't in production, so don't get your hopes up :D

In case it isn't clear, I made Rebel Galaxy, which is why there are some shared UI elements here."

I could tell a microtransaction joke here, but I can't afford it. :D

Depending on who you believe, Visceral's either refusal or inability to intergrate multiplayer into their Star Wars game (primarily entitled Ragtag and evoking the feel of the Edge of the Empire RPG) lead to their closure.

Fare well, Ragtag it was a shame we never got to know you.

Maybe the game *was* crap and EA acknowledged the production problems. Or EA shut them down due to the game was single player.
But when EA CFO Blake Jorgensen said "As we kept reviewing the game, it continued to look like a much more linear game [which] people don’t like as much today as they did five years ago or ten years ago", my mind is set about the whole deal.

I can't enjoy Star Wars much anymore after the awful The Last Jedi movie.

As a Star Wars movie, it wasn’t ... I mean ...

If you remember to properly turn off your brain before entering the theater it really isn’t too bad. It had good light saber fights, it had comedy (roast porgs are funny, full stop) and I think as a setup for IX it did it’s job.

Plot holes and lack of physics shouldn’t be a reason not to like a Star Wars movie, and at least the Force isn’t bacteria anymore.
