Double engineered DSS.

Dear all,

Out of the three "double engineered" components ever offered (the missile rack, the FSD, and the DSS), only the DSS remains exclusive to folks who were lucky enough to do the CG in December. Apologies if this has been asked, but are there plans to do a subsequent CG that would result in that component being available via a tech broker?

It's not a huge deal, but it would be a very nice present for explorers who were out at that time (or people who could not login for the original CG for real life reason).

I support this 100%. I got the DE-DSS from the CG and it is AMAZING.

Being able to map an entire 8-drone planet with only four drones is mind-blowing and a time saver.

I missed out on the DSS.
What’s the double engineering?
Unlike the Seekers and FSD, there’s only one type of engineering available for the DSS...

Bantha, the DSS you got from the GC reward in December has a much bigger scan radius than even a G5 engineered DSS, making it easier to scan big planets. It is not a huge deal, but it does make getting scanning payouts easier on large planets.

There was the double engineered point defence too, but generally I agree that making these things available to everyone is a good idea.

It does offer a substantial performance boost over the G5 engineered version. I recently switched out my alt (who has the CG DSS) with my main during an expedition (who only has the G5 normal one). I miss it. Shout out to Frontier for making these CG modules generally available for material costs and count me in as being in favor of the DSS being made available in similar manner. Thanks :)

OBJECTIVE: Deliver Lavian Brandy, Karsuki Locusts, Giant Irukama Snails, Goman Yaupon Coffee, Eden Apples Of Aerial, Ethgreze Tea Buds, Gerasian Gueuze Beer
REWARD: Fully engineered long range fast boot class 5 Frame Shift Drive + Sirius Permit (Top 75%+)
PROGRESS: Tier 5/5
CONTRIBUTORS: 10,522
CONTRIBUTIONS: 5,000,001/5,000,000 (100%)
END: 21 Feb 3307

DESCRIPTION: Sirius Corporation has requested deliveries of consumables to Luyten's Star for the forthcoming diplomatic conference.

Sirius Corporation has placed orders for these rare commodities: Eden Apples Of Aerial, Ethgreze Tea Buds, Gerasian Gueuze Beer, Giant Irukama Snails, Goman Yaupon Coffee, Karsuki Locusts and Lavian Brandy.

All shipments are to be delivered to Ashby City in the Luyten's Star system. They will then be ferried to Sirius before the conference begins.

If the initiative is successful, Sirius Corporation will make the fully engineered long range fast boot class 5 Frame Shift Drive available for purchase at all human technology brokers.

Each tier reached will further reduce the resources required for acquiring the module in the first two weeks of availability, starting on the 26th of February 3307.

Datamined Wake Exceptions base requirements 18, reduced by two for each tier above Tier 1.
Tellurium base requirements 26, reduced by four for each tier above Tier 1.
Electrochemical Arrays base requirements 26, reduced by four for each tier above Tier 1.
Chemical Processors base requirements 28, reduced by four for each tier above Tier 1.

If the initiative is successful, Sirius Corporation will gift the module and a permanent Sirius system permit to the top 75% of pilots. The module will be placed in storage at the Ashby City starport in the Luyten's Star system by the 26th of February 3307.
Still don't see any info either on this reward, anyone knows where is this module aquired?

Well, for one thing the cheap aquiring period (10-10-10-12 instead of 26-28...) is over since Friday. But you still can purchase it at a Human tech broker near you for full price in mats.

Did you sign up for the mission first?
I forgot that once. Only once. (May they choke on all that fish). :)

Otherwise the money should be in your bank account by now (more than two weeks have passed) and if you were eligible for the class 5 FSD you will find it in your module storage. If you had the capacity for it, had not filled up all 120 slots with junk like prismatic shields.

It's not as good as it sounds, though: G5 engineered already makes getting the efficiency bonus trivial

Yeah, once it gets trivial to map big planets, any additional boost is pretty much irrelevant.

I don't have the double-engineered DSS and, frankly, I couldn't care less.

A G5 DSS has +50% scan range. Might as well reduce weight by 50% as increase scan range further ;)

The reward became available exactly as described and the following rebate worked as described as well. Even at full cost the module is still well worth it. Just visit any Human Tech Broker. Note that handing in the materials doesn't unlock the module, but rather grants you exactly 1 in storage at that station - so you are buying it for materials, not unlocking it. And you can buy it repeatedly if you want.
