Horizons Double fine?

I trashed an interdicter and picked up 2 cargo from his wreckage. Animal meat. Somebody could use that.
I went to a different system and found it was stolen.
Started to drop it. Got interdicted before the second one hit the void.
Afterwards the Authority scanned me and fined me for illicit cargo. (Fine, I thought)
Then dumped the 2nd one, and got fined for dumping illicit cargo.

Who the bloody hell thought that up. Damned if you do and damned if you don't.[mad]

I think FD makes all picked up cargo to be illicit. Not just escape pods. (Stupid)[mad]

Wow what a Han Solo you are.

You did notice that nobody can really die, in Elite, didn't you? The law must adhere to that.
Even if you find cargo floating around some wreckage, there is still someone who owns it, somewhere. ;)

If you are fighting with avoiding the interdictions, just sell your stolen cargo in anarchy systems, or find an anarchy station in a normal system. (Every station has its own jurisdiction bubble around it, no matter the ruling faction of the system)

Planets are different. They don't have a jurisdiction on the surface, except of the perimeter around bases, so if you want legal salvage, go grab it from a surface.

Oh and another analogy, regarding your double fine.
a) a cop found you with a stolen cup of coffee (strike one)
b) you threw it at him (strike two)

If you've done it in the station's no-fire zone, you'd have been actually fined with a third fine for polluting the station space. :p

And lastly, it's just a bloody tonne of meat. Try getting scanned with 720 slaves on board of your Cutter. That's a fine of 10 million credits. THEN you can complain. :D
