>>Down sizing your ship and federal woes in PP<<

… I could get a DBE maybe for the dangerous stuff, …

Forget the DBE for anything dangerous. It's a flying coffin in combat. Weak defenses so it doesn't has a chance against bigger ships, and it's turn rate is so low it has no chance against anything smaller, to slow to run away. That ship could have been such a nice ship, but it's non existent agility makes it useless for anything that could involve combat.

The DBS on the other hand - fun little thing.

Personally I'd keep the python until you really can't afford it anymore. The Python is pretty strong, you'd be facing a lot less insurance screens then if you were an an asp or dropship. The higher insurance pays for itself because you'll use it less.

As for the second thing, you have a python, form your own wing and defend the federation. Rounding up a few like minded individuals shouldn't be too hard.

GOT GOOD RANGE OUT OF A DBE 32+LYS ! but slow to turn and a bit fragile even with A grade shields for real fun the vulture is best C3 Beam and a C3 cannon,

I think that many people are missing the point that if you fight in Powerplay you have significant money on the line if your ship is destroyed but no income of note to balance it out. Downsizing your ship to reduce the amount of money you could lose skirts around the issue when it should be tackled head-on by making working hard for your power provide some sort of suitable income.

I agree. Measly few hundred credits for an enemy NPC if your lucky. No Credits in warzones (strikes). A thousand for commodities. There is certainly no money in power play.

One thing that could bring the power balance back towards the Federation is seriously looking at the Dropship, and sorting it out to be useful. Be boring FD and make it similar to other ships of its class. I dont want the dropship to be "different". I want it to be boring, I want less armoured, more shields, faster, and well, more like an Asp. But keep the guns.

Having a more capable "cheap" fed only ship will bring more players back to fed.

See you out there

i agree something should be done about the dropship but their might be a way to fix it and keep the same mentality about the ship. add a unique ability that only the dropship has to make it so tanky that it is viable for use. one idea is there could be a special module for the dropship only that decreases subsystem damage, this would mean that huge armor means something and you can't just target powerplant and wait and watch as it is helpless to get away or attack you. this could also be done to most of the non multipurpose specialty ships so that the game in a year or so doesn't boil down to in combat everyone having the same few ships, conda, vulture, python, fdl.

But still the tankness would be wear thin, when stuck in mass lock getting whittled away. The Vulture is a strange one, fed markings. Should it be fed only? I'm not so sure it would bring any more to the party that would benefit the fed on its own. Bearing in mind Fed PP space have the largest bubbles to move about in.

What I would like would be a more in-line, dropship to not quite match the clipper, but be more effective. Yea we could all wait for a troop landing patch from FD, but until then what use does the dropship really have in his new brutal game?

So people really think of the Feds as American? Interesting. I guess that explains why Hudson is #1 and everyone hates him. He is kind of douchey. Like G Bush the second, but with an IQ higher than a mop. I guess that makes Winters more like Obama? Lol. Very subtle FD. Liberal "mother" nurturer vs the Republican "father" disciplinarian. And that would make the imperials a kinder and gentler version of the axis powers who made the transition from fascist back to totalitarian? The alliance in that case would be like the American libertarians, halfway to anarchy, but with a common military. Sirius corp must then be China. And what does that leave for Archon? A quisi-african warlord? The pirate ridden oceans of the South Pacific?

Too much though with the philosophy my friend. You got to back the stronger power. All world history has taught us this. Take it back to what history is the easiest to dissect. Rome and the second Punic war. Or Rome and Teutoberg forst, Its make or break time. It either the Fed diminishes, or expands. My lot 150 years earlier with the second Punic war. The time for control and expansion has come. The fed may rule for a time, and its days may be numbered. But not now. its time for conformity and submission.

From the wikia:

DB Scout

Top speed: 283
Boost Speed 384

Fer-de-Lance

Top Speed: 260
Boost Speed 350

elite-dangerous.wikia.com/wiki/Diamondback_Scout
elite-dangerous.wikia.com/wiki/Fer-de-Lance

Edit: if you run away you will most likely escape with ~80% Hull, just remember to keep boosting, also double chaff.

I think those figures must be for stock ships. Empty but with a full tank of gas I get 304 top speed out of my uprated DiamondBack Scout (just shy off 400 in boost) and with four pips to the engine I can spam the boost key all day long never dropping below about 350. So far I haven't run into any trouble that I couldn't run away from.
