Down to Earth Astronomy keybidings

Greetings all, I have a virpil Hotas setup and when i played ED couple of years back i followed Down to earth Astronomy key binding setup.
Its been a while since i played the game and i am on Windows 11, does any1 have a keybiding setting they can share that is similar to the one Down to Earth Astronomy posted on youtube couple years back?

Or an alternative ? Would be appreciated.
PS i have been looking at EDREfcard website but can't figure out how to download the binding files. Any help would be welcome, sorry for the noob question.

There are several authors online that share efficient KBM layouts.

As a KBM player. I tend to want to keep my hand over the WASD. For example, by switching the default 1-4 menus to Shift + W, Shift + A, Shift + S, and Shift + D allows me to hold my hand over the WASD and easily select and navigate the panels and 'M' to open or close the galaxy map. I also changed the binding to toggle the Cargo Hatch since its more convenient than toggling it via navigating to the menu panel and so on. This is also useful to create a 'drag' effect to reduce the radian turn on ships.

I would suggest printing a copy of the default key bindings and find which ones you use most often, in context to your normal gameplay, and hotkey those commands in a comfortable layout to where your hand rests on the KBM.

I am happy to provide my bindings, which may give you a reasonable starting point - now using a single rather than 3 device throttle.
Thank you Ratcatcher, do you by any chance have a template of the bindings n a label ? Additionally, is this using 1 mongoose and 1 alpha stick? Thanks alot by the way!

The bindings are for an Alpha stick on a WarBRD base, and the Mongoost throttle.
I was going to feed them into EDRefCard but the site is unobtainable curently. I'll try again later, just in case it is a hiccup.
I thought I'd had a print out from EDRef - but don't any longer, and thinking about it, it would have been made before ED removed the 32 button limit.

I suggest grabbing a sidey or similar, go into an uninhabited system, and solo, and play with the HOTAS with those bindings active. It should be obvious what does what after a minute or 2. I'll try to list most functions later, but am packing ready to go on vacation Monday, so time is a bit tight...

There's a couple of options here https://edrefcard2.epaphus.uk/list

If you pick on a config you like, the page with the diagram has a binds download link at the bottom.

I tried to get my configuration on the above link.
Neither Alpha stick, nor Mongoost T50 etc. throttle were recognised devices, I'll add the reference to the current thread, and also my device Ids, just in case they are different to those you have.

According to something I read in the thread in the tools forum some parts of Virpil IDs can change when you get an update which throws EDrefcard.

The device name is "VID" concatenated with "PID":

As I have just an ID change right now - which made my old keybinds invalid as the PID has changed the first letter from a 4 to an 8. How you deal with that change of the device name? Elite wasn't able to load the keybinds as the old device name isn't found.

Just use your favourite text editor on your bindings file to search & replace every incidence of the old ID with the new one.
It only takes a few seconds and works 100% afterward.

Use the Virpil configurator to change the PID back to what it was. The binding error log file in the same folder as your bindings will tell you what it was looking for. Then you use that in the configurator.

I have successfully corrected this for both my sticks at least once each. This is the less effort way of fixing the mismatch between your sticks and the stored PID in the elite bindings file. We were just talking about this over the weekend in this post: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threa...your-controller-bindings.627609/post-10618396

Exactly like DawnTreader, plus I simply dropped my screenshot into the bindings, so I know which PID is left, right stick and other controls. It seems the PID has no real meaning and is free to set whatever we like. In my opinion this should be an identifier set by Virpil.
