Downloaded update - now virus Threat

Downloaded the latest update, went to run Elite and my AVG Virus Suite has blocked the Elite Dangerous executable

anybody else having similar issues ?

AVG being over-zealous again. This is why I only installed the basic scan, email scan, and firewall. The rest of their garbage is useless, including their potential threat detection.

You are seeing a potential threat warning, nothing more.

Had this issue with quite a few of the early Odyssey updates and AVG. As Morbad says it's because they're not aware of the file so haven't added it to thier White list.

Comodo usually doesn't give false positives, and didn't say anything (neither when installing, nor on a on-command scan).

I'm amazed people still use these virus programs. They are always nearly wrong. They cause so many problems. Random problems with things appearing and disappearing.

The only reason I still use AVG is because their firewall has the best user-configuration options out of all I've tried. The options are well hidden, but at least they're there. This is integral to the lockdown I placed on Windows 10, which isn't possible with most other AV packages (especially the built-in Defender). It's my PC, so I'll decide when and what gets installed on it

Better than being nearly always wrong.
Always nearly wrong is a fancy way of saying: I dislike that the program is always right.

That's certainly more affordable than AVG. The free version is a bit limited, but I'll check it out. Thanks!

What AV softwares are good for gaming ?
I used Avast in the past with a few other freebies. I currently have a paidfor AV program watching over me. I will not divulge its name atm. hehe

Windows has its own firewall too.
