Community Event / Creation Drabble saga

This may have been attempted before and failed, but here's a thought.Would it be possible to have an on going Elite based saga based on drabble sized contributions?. By saga i mean an organic tale with people pitching in whenever they have time and some good material.
Their is genuine enthusiasm for drabbling on this forum, and i think it would work.Offcourse, their are many problems to fix with this format;but is the basic principle sound and workable?.

As a first piece of research I would suggest taking a look at the "Elite Chronicles" book project. They are doing something along similar lines, but with larger pieces of text.

Another place to look would the 'Thargoid and Fer-de-lance' thread. You can get an idea of the results you might expect
