Hi everyone!
I've seen a bunch of people make their own full, personal wishlists, and decided I also wanted to get mine out of my system.
First, a bunch of disclaimers and explanations:
Obviously, this is all based on my personal opinions, experiences, and knowledge. I will also add a short comment to each selection!
I based this list on my top 25 from the meta wishlist thread and have added anything else I would expand that list with. I ended up at 50 animals, which would bring the total count of habitat animals to around 150, which I think would be a good number and probably roughly the maximum amount I could fit into my personal zoo, in which I try to keep every species with ample space.
Animals are sorted by continents. The additions that are not in my 25 are marked (*) and more or less in order.
Also, this excludes exhibits, aquatic or aviary animals.
The list:
NORTH AMERICA

If you have made it all the way down here, thanks for reading!
Edit: Why limit myself? Added a few more entries.

The list:
NORTH AMERICA
- Roosevelt Elk
Aside from being beautiful, visually impressive animals, their call is so unique! Armadillo (also SA)
A cute and unique animal; a small species that can fit both North and South American areas.Raccoon (*)
Iconic little critters, now that more small species are in the game, they would be a great fit.Collared Peccary (*, also SA)
I'd love a few more piggies! They would be a great addition for desert based American areas, for example.- American Black Bear (*)
Thinking about it again, these bears actually live in lots of different biomes. In addition to being quite iconic, that justifies their addition despite already having a black bear and an NA bear. - White Pelican (*)
Need a feathered friend for NA, and I feel like these would fit great with Sea Lions, for example.
- Coati
Probably Coatimundi. Would be a cute and unique addition to SA. - Ocelot
A small cat would round out the SA roster pretty well. - Tamandua
Another ant-eater variation, but so different from the one we have so far! Love their coloration, too. - Howler Monkey (*)
The main monkey when I think of South America. Would also create great background sounds in the zoo. - Sea Iguana (*)
As a child, I loved watching documentaries about the Galapagos Isles. Sea Iguanas have always fascinated me and I want to build a habitat for them. - Roseate Spoonbill (*)
This would be my non-aviary bird of choice for SA. The unique beak, the color; they would be wonderful for tropical builds. Sloth (*)
To be honest, I am not sure how they would make this work gameplay-wise. But if they pull it of, sloths are a must have.- Spectacled Bear (*)
In the bear-thread I kind of talked myself into thinking these would actually be a pretty awesome addition. Maned Wolf (*)
Not as high on my personal list as for many others, but it would fill another gap in the SA roster.
Red Deer
Nr. 1 iconic European deer for me. We even have their statues already!Wild Boar
My number one pig-pick. They are super common, absolute staple in the Tierparks of my youth, and look quite different from the other pigs in game.Red Fox
Another animal that screams Europe to me. Admittedly, it has gone down in my wants since the arctic fox was released, but I still want it.- Chamois
When I added this to my wishlist, it was kind of to push more EU in there. Seeing how few (exclusive) EU animals there still are, these cuties can stay. - Capercaillie
Ground-based bird that lives in EU and looks really unique. - A rabbit/hare (*)
Pretty much any will do. Could also be Arctic. But there should be some sort of rabbit in the game. Mute Swan (*)
This would almost feel like a decoration item. I could imagine them in a lot of zoos.- White Stork (*)
Now that I don't limit myself by numbers anymore, this EU staple belongs in.
- Musk Ox
Really iconic, impressive, and unique looking animals. And a non-white animal for arctic builds. - Walrus
Easily my number 1 choice for another pinniped.
Dromedary
We need an AF camel and already have the signage!- Hamadryas or Gelada Baboon
No baboon yet, and these look the most interesting and work in so far less utilized terrains. - Secretary Bird
As I wrote in another thread, it is just the coolest bird. - Aardwolf
As I recently learned here a hyena and not actually a wolf!Either way cute af and really unique-looking!
- Marabou Stork
Another unique looking bird. My kids knowing it from a Barbapapa book is a bonus. Red River Hog
My number two most wanted pig. Love their faces and color.Crested Porcupine
Another completely new animal model.Caracal (*)
A small cat for Africa. Very distinct looking from the ocelot or lynx, for example.- Grey Crowned Crane (*)
Another beautiful bird. Would look lovely in many safari environments. - African Leopard (*)
If we get only one leopard, Amur is a bit more interesting to me. If we get two (and I'd be cool with two), the African would be a strange omission. - Helmeted Guineafowl (*)
I could really imagine those as almost a filler animal to make safari habitats feel more natural and alive. Somali Wild Donkey (*)
This is my pick for a donkey! Nice for the drier African areas.- Nile Crocodile (*)
If we ever get another croc, it must be this, right? This is kind of THE crocodile! (And that would really be enough, then.) - Shoebill (*)
Africa has so many interesting big birds! This would round it out well as a more tropical and again very unique variant. - Diana Monkey (*)
I was missing another African monkey. And I like them from our local zoo.
Amur Leopard
My current number one want for the game.Przewalski's Horse
Seems like the obvious choice for a horse.- Manul
Another very different small cat. Love their grumpy faces. - Golden Pheasant
We have some in our local zoo, and their colors are simply amazing. Also, small Asian bird. Takin or Yak (*)
Basically, gimme a cow I can use in an Asian mountain region.Saiga (*)
Probably the most unique antelope, and one for Asia, as well.- Sand Fox (*)
Unique animal for an Asian desert-y or steppe-y area. And I just want to look at their goofy faces. - Gaur (*)
Vaguely cow-shaped mass of muscle. Sunk in ranking with the addition of water buffaloes, but they would be too impressive not to include. Lar Gibbon
When I think of Asian monkeys, after the Orang Utan, Gibbons come to mind. Probably a challenge to animate, but all the greater if they pull it off. (*Technically, my need for a gibbon is fulfilled with the Siamang. I'll leave it in here, anyway, but it goes down in priority by a lot.)
Emu
How are they even not in the game yet?Wombat
Lovely balls of floof. Their existence makes my kids smile.Kiwi
If there is any NZ animal that definitely belongs in this game, this must be it.- Echidna (*)
The other super unique Australian species next to the platypus. - (A) Tree Kangaroo (*)
Again, just interesting and unique animals. Wallaby (*)
Australia would not quite feel complete without these little fellas.Tasmanian Devil (*)
Not as high on my personal wish list as for many others, but still an addition that would make a lot of sense.
If you have made it all the way down here, thanks for reading!
