Drew's tricky Elite quiz, separating the Jamesons from the Ryders

I thought I'd pop back and join the excitement of the 1.4 release as it's bring a bunch of stuff I'm interested in back into the game. Whilst we wait for the update, here's something to keep you occupied.

I've been playing Elite for a few years, so I thought I'd treat you to a quiz. How's your lore, Commanders? Kudos to whomsoever gets the right answer, and then the next question will be placed.

How do you measure up to an Official Elite Dangerous author?

Let us begin...

Enjoy.

Cheers,

Drew.

Q1. Which original Elite ship featured a wing-folding technique?

Gah!

I can see it in my mind's eye!
Curse you!

I'll take a stab and say Fer De Lance?

Clicker

edit...had to look it up...it was the Adder.

A quick research yielded that the Adder had (and supposedly has! - never seen it myself 0.o, gotta check it out with the Debug Cam) Wing Folds...

I think it was the original Adder.... or Moray Starboat (possibly).

I'll go for Adder?

Edit:
Falcon, that's cheating ;)

FalconFly gets the right answer. :) (An the 'new' Adder paid a nice little homage to the original one in this regard - kudos to Frontier too!)

Cheers,

Drew.

Q2. To the nearest K, how many copies of the original Elite game were sold for the BBC micro?

I don't know the number Drew, but I'm sure I heard D. Braben once claim that more copies of Elite were sold for the BBC micro, than there were BBC micros! How'd that work? :D

Considerably higher than that. Here are two numbers I'm after. One from Ian Bell and one from David Braben. ;)

Cheers,

Drew.

A little too high Erimus, but getting closer. :) Lestat - you're too low.

Cheers,

Drew.

Bell stated 600k sales (Wikipedia)...

Hmm, looking for DB's figures now.

Lestat first with the right answer, and FalconEye's Google FU is strong. Ian Bell claimed 600k sales.... and DB?

Cheers,

Drew.
