driveable buggy,looking for items?

Hi, I have followed the tutorial on wave scanner and looking to do synthesis, I found the blue disks for areas of interest, on landing near the center of the ring I used the buggy but after 1/2hr of searching found nothing, I then went to a 2nd area and again found nothing, I did see small blips on the scanner and followed them, when the blip dissapered behind me I turned around but didn't see anything. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks

A short Google search turned up this one - I like it: http://wavescanner.net/

This is how the wavescanner should look and sound like if you're somewhat close to an object. The furhter away you are, the wider the scan becomes. If you're too far away, the scan goes around all of the scanner, and you'll have no sound. If you don't see anything at all, you're much too far away.

When it goes behind you reverse a bit and use headlook as the HUD should put a target box around it. Once you know what you are looking for they are pretty easy to see.

Bear in mind that you are looking for a rock that looks slightly different from other rocks, it doesn't hold up a neon sign and do a dance, sorry.

nothing like that I had 2 vertical lines slightly spaced appart

That usually means you are right on top of 2 rocks. The lines start vertically stretched by how far you are from the rock and slowly get narrower as you get closer until they are vertical.

Just noticed Ashnak's name, he is a very reasonable Orc. Bring on the War Mouse!
