Newcomer / Intro Dromi starting area?!?!

Odyssey 4.0 always starts the new game at Chamberlain's Rest in HIP 97950.

Not sure if this applies to Horizons 4.0 as well. Which mode were you in when you restarted, Horizons or Odyssey?

If you select (Live) Horizons it still does.

Can you fly away from the on-foot starting base? How does an Odyssey start get their free Sidewinder and repaint? Does it let you buy a ship without getting your pilots licence? ;)

I've restarted in Odyssey once. To get the Sidewinder you have to approach an Inter Astra desk. They'll send you through a training simulation which is exactly the same as the Horizons tutorial. After finishing or skipping that, the Sidewinder will be waiting in the hangar. You won't be sent to the Pilots' Federation District. So the only way to reach Dromi, Mawson Dock etc. is by restarting in Horizons 4.0.

That explains why I never see any hollow icons when mucking about in my noob-zone account in Odyssey. (There are still lots in Live Horizons though for me to help out or just to hay Hi to { well, explain what o7 means LOL }.)

I did a clear save on one account, starting intentionally over in Horizons Live. I do this often on this account. Like any newbie in Horizons, I start at Matet, as usual. Usually I then skip the training, but remain in Matet. THIS time, after the 14.1 update, I no longer remain at Coelho station in Matet. Instead I have to choose Asellus Primus, or LHS 3447. Even if I don't skip the training, it's the same. It looks like new commanders can no longer access the starter zone at all. Frontier, please bring back the starter zone. I have submitted a ticket titled "No more starter zone?"

did you try start in legacy horizons and tried there? if legacy horizons also dont allow to start in dromi then its bad. and need fdev attention...if legacy horizons does not allow to start in dromi then tis fdev overisght and need to be looked into.

if legacy horizons also dont allow to start in dromi then yeah evryone need to know so put this on reddit aswell. so more people see this.

Thanks for all the support, I submitted a ticket to try and get things worked out. For now I guess i will play on Legacy 3.8 =(

The newbie area is very limited and not really very useful. Folks used to just start in the regular galaxy, and we’ve gone back to that now. It’s not much of a loss, in fact I think it’s better.

Don’t play in 3.8 if that’s your reason. Progress you make in 3.8 will not transfer to Horizons 4.0 or Odyssey, so you will have to start all over when you decide to play the current game. Is that really what you want?

Yep. Starter zone is pointless. We never had one. And the idea of it was ill conceived. Frontier should have actually fixed the game's security level issues instead of creating yet another artificial disconnected experience.

wait.. if you create character in legacy you have to create new character for horizons 4.0 ?

anyway the starter systems are not bad and not terrible, cutting them off is still not good idea, i am sure this is done by oversight and will be solved.

i loved dromi matet because infinite pvp practice,no need to kill, just agree with second player that combat ends with 50% hull or something like that,so had alot of combat training. also some planets have rings so there was alot of fun, alot! then later someone was flying pythons anacondas mambas and even type 10. this was really cool to see. i regret the permit loss but at end it was worth the effort. what i miss after losing the permit? well ALOT.
1. forming ship trains and flying together around stations,we had "locomotive" and our ships as train car.
2. ship towers on planet rings where one ship hits asteroid at slow speed with nose then next ship hits his ship then next hit next until theres 15 ships.
3. we had someone from blue squadrons, there was 11 of us in vipers and there was guy with adder and did make plenty of acrobatics around our ships. we did form up as obstacles and the one guy was flying around and had to fly at max speed without hitting us, so he did barrel rolls, corkscrew, then flying oin reverse and doing reversed barrel rolls. this was really nice..

as for ships like anaconda pythons mambas in dromi. yes its possible to have big ships there but if used to gank newbies then you get kicked out of starter zone by angry fdev and your permit will be removed. if you use them for acrobatics, roleplaying, recruiting new wing members then its okay to keep them.

also the starter area looks so cool, someone long ago made reddit post about this Source: https://old.reddit.com/r/EliteMiners/comments/k78l98/scanned_all_rings_in_new_player_area/

well to lose permit its easy, just increase your rank in any of activity like trade combat exploration, once your rank is increased all you need to do is just fly away from starter zone and dock to any outside station, then permit is gone, many people lose the permit too early and dont know why, the warning they get before leaving the starter zone is not eoungh or they dont understand it.
