Drop Multiplayer

I know this wont be a popular post ... but in my view, please drop the multi-player for now .. it is causing most of the crashes, time for devs ... and problems for players .. Drop it .. come back to it later, make Elite work first.

Please stop concentrating on the MP aspect and get the game made first ..

I know what you mean, but multiplayer is entwined with Elite, they can't write the game and then add multiplayer after....

Sadly, we just have to keep testing it, and hope that they come up with a solid solution to it all. If they don't, it'll fall flat on its face and FD know it.
 
If it's causing most of the problems and it gets dropped, how are the devs meant to fix the problems? :D

It's a beta - unfortunately these things will happen and in order to stop them happening, please report your findings to FD by raising bug reports so that they can be investigated.
 
My first thought was your nuts... but I have not been home to update yet since the Beta started... I think if I can't log in I may see your point! But honestly, this is how it gets made, send tickets and hope they sort it out. Like Stoo said, it just can't be created that way. Would be like... cooking but not using all the ingredients till your done baking... I think, I actually do not really bake or cook...

Hope your issues lessen Luniticisi.

Didn't work so badly for Freelancer until Microsoft stopped the servers (Multi-player added after the the fact)... Look, I do know things need testing and I am all up for that .. it is just disappointing that the game (as good as it looks) is relying on multiplayer aspects as the game will be able to be played in single player ... but not yet ....not yet ...

Bring on solo play is what I say ...

ED PB1.0 is released explicitly for stress testing. They have kept the number of systems the same, while adding thousands of more players for that reason alone. Have in mind that the current player concentrations are much higher than what we will have in the final game. Again, this is intended.

So go forth brave testers and ticket everything that is not already here. :)

I think the game is being designed as a single player experience augmented with multi-player. Everything works without other players, you just happen to connect to instances. Frontier can probably make this work as a single player game already, but then (as many have pointed out) they risk not getting the data on the multi-player they need to make it work well. Introducing multi-player early on in Alpha 2 was a good decision if you ask me.
 
I have no problems with the game, yes I have had multiple crashes .. that's to be expected ... it's a beta ... and I am all up for testing it, which is what I have been doing ... but to me the game shouldn't be "ALL" about multiplayer .. it seems we are just testing the servers .. I know this thread is a bit inflammatory, and I appoligise ... I am loving it (The Beta) .. I would just like to test the basic mechanics out before jumping into a multiplayer world and getting shot up inside a station, without any reaction from the station ... If I take too long to park, I get blown up by the station but If someone shoots me from 10ft away while I am on the landing pad that's fine ... (no complaining here about getting shot up) .. sod it .. I know I am wrong ... I just think that things would have gone smoother if the core mechanics were tested first .... please if you see me in game shoot me .... I am so wrong :)

That sounds like a plan! Let's see - how can we make an engrossing single player experience? How about we just have a dock you can sit in with no fear of ever having to deal with other players, or indeed fly a ship.

Maybe we could add a fish tank, and maybe a towel!

Eureka! I'm off to Kickstarter to see if I can get a few quid!

No, don't run - I won't shoot, promise :)

Seriously though, dropping multiplayer testing at this juncture would be a dreadful idea. We know that it would work fine as a solo game right now - what we're specifically testing is multiplayer.
