DRYMAN Sector Investigation Mission

Ill keep it simple for now, OP will be edited later on.

The DRYMAN Sector is a very distant sector on the far side of the galaxy. DRYMAN itself is permit locked. Im currently there in my exploraconda undertaking an investigation of the border regions around DRYMAN sector to see if there is any hidden access / content that may have been missed, given its distance from both colonia and sol, others are welcome to join me over time, but i expect currently there are hardly any commanders in this region of space.

Distance to SOL 28000 LY
Distance to Colonia 28500 LY

So my plan is to stay out in the deep until 2.3 and a period of time afterwards, there is a seperate project to investigate the hyponia sector on the other side opposite the core closer to jaques. But given it is one of 4 or so deep space permit locked regions i thought it was time i do a little exploration in the deeps

I will also be mapping many thousands of systems in the next few months, as well as collecting future potential tourists sites ( volcanic, geyser and other points of interest as well)
Signal Sources in space ( if any exist) as well as any planetside points of interest of say crashed ships, nav beacons, and other probes if any are found ill share as well.

Anyone is welcome to contribute routes , maps and any other material or expertise they are able to contribute. This is an open community project

Region of Space DRYMAN Sector is in - Everyone can bookmark EOL PRUAE QB-D c29-10 as a destination for now until i arrive in the next day or so and scout around for a base camp location

Hmmm...I am only 3kly from there...

Well this sort of thing is open / private / solo compatible. Youre more than welcome to chip in and contribute in anyway u feel u are able to. Im still a few days out at 18500ly out from the nearest system that i have tagged as where im going to start around the edge of the permit locked zone

We will also pickup a lot of detailed planetary scan data, green planets for materials for srv, jump boosts and all things science related

And especially one of the first priorities is to find volcanic vents, fullerides, geysers and fungoid lifeforms ( and from what i can tell having antimony on a planet as a material can be a benefit to finding rich content a little more easily) - if we can find these new bits of content and map them ( we can share them on the tourist beacon suggestion thread) as well as attracting the attentions of frontier possibley down the track with space or ground based outposts/bases - storyline type stuff but that last bit is probably a stretch at the moment but getting a tourist beacon or two put in for passanger missions if we can find stuff worth visiting is probably much more doable and gives us something concrete to rally around

DRYMAN is well beyond the core. If u think of colonia/hyponia on the left of the galaxy, DRYMAN is on the right side beyond Sag A.

Thanks for the edsm link, after some checking there is still a real lack of traffic and commanders in that region, meaning plenty of opportunities for finds both before and after 2.3.

One reason i chose it was the virgin nature and theres not much edsm data compared to other parts of the galaxy. Im still about 10000ly out. Still waiting to hear from straha20 if he has arrived or not

Once im in place ill post some shiny maps and pictures as to a suitable basecamp system should anyone want to take the obligatory group selfie with asps and other things in front of things etc. It will also server as a base of operations and a inital starting point depending how small or big these mission becomes

That is an interesting part of the galaxy. I spent a lot of time near there on my way back from DWE. Lots of amazing things out that way, I wish you all well in your endeavor.

Actually by "near there" I mean the gap between spiral arms closer to the core than your sector is, but it's still in the same neighborhood.

its a big neighbourhood out here, i do thankyou for youre encouragement on this endeavor, feel free to return and help out if youre out this way again

So The Original Target System EOL PRUAE QB-D c29-10 i have now arrived in and scanned.

Didnt prove as suitable as a base camp of operations - it did have some interesting bodies however. I will continue a search along the DRYMAN border regions for somewhere interesting, with landable planets that will be better suited to a collection point for commanders and a base of operations.

So we go next door 8LY away to EOL PRUAE QB-D c29-9 and while we dont find any landables or unique systems we do find a system with twin waterworlds on the inner most planets A1 and A2 (binary waterworld pair) which are fairly rare. These have been submitted for consideration for tourist beacons on the main forum tourist submission thread for 2.3 ( this would be a space based destination for explorers) and it would encourage additional exploration of really deep space as well as be a high paying passanger mission destination

The search continues for a suitable home base location

Carbon Volacanism world here , its largeish at 1500km radius, in an hour of flying at 3km or so above the ground and some srving around all i have managed to find so far is some rocks for sythesis and some afm reloads. So about 22 rock formations so far, no sign of any human activity on this world. No alien lifeforms, and no carbon volcanic vents of yet.

There is plenty of material to build my own base if i was able to , however at this point the galactic technology to deploy construction drones and build ones own base in the deep is yet to become a reality, i could have brought supplies in a 300 tonne anaconda to setup a small settlement, with the twin waterworlds i located earlier and quite a few nearby worlds with all the materials humanity could have had an outpost to probe the dryman sector. Oh well this pilots solo search ( his hoping some fellow explorers join him at some point) continues.

A lonley gas giant class 1 orbiting a M class star at 15000ls. Such a system could house a gas harvesting base to supply a growing market in the future, or a simple listening post

This is indicative of quite a few M class stars with class 1 and class II gas giants in this neck of the woods

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I'm still in the N/W quadrant, probably about 30-40kly from this area. So I guess I won't be dropping in for tea ;-)

Good luck!

Until others start arriving / getting involved in the area ill continue to report varioius findings, with lots of lovley eye candy, some will be boring but it will be random, some visuals will be awe inspiring. The mission is aiming to catalogue everything in this sector of space around the DRYMAN region. And its just getting started, best of luck in youre N/W quadrant. Just make sure you stay alive out there

So spent 5 hours scanning a 540km radius potatoe planet with ammonia volcanism and had no luck on finding any vents, at this point im going to switch to just system scanning for a few days to acquire detailed surface scans on hundreds of nearby bodies. I think such data at this point is more useful than planteary items of natural formation, at least until more commanders are involved in the mapping missions.

Btw let me know if theres any style of screenshots people would prefer and ill try and deliver

This system is going to take a while to scan, it does however have a nice mix of gas giants and landable planets. Must decide if i just dss scan or attempt to play around on the planets, i may dss scan today and move on and then come back tomorrow when my srv feelings are refreshed after todays massive effort.

First Earthlike Find since coming out
JlINzf2.jpg

AB5 - Earthlike
AB4 - Terraforming candidate
Ab6 - Waterworld
AB8 - Waterworld

Plus some other interesting bodies in this 4 star system, this would make a future HQ capital for the sector in the way of 4 worlds that could be settled, plus metal rich for refineries and industrialsation and the tourism potential is just large.

Sure honey i can fly the anacondatruck through that small gap had a bit of fun to (was more fun in the taipan though) still no methan geysers though

I still need experience in finding organic, volcanic and geyser stuff, so far no luck but the search continues

Heres one that was a nice alignment of the current planet im running around on looking for signs of human or alien activity - Ive worked myself about 70ly from basecamp 1 as the EOL PRUAE and MOIJOE sectors meet (as does the corner of the DRYMAN permit locked sector) still had no luck finding a way in.

so out of the crateor and up onto the flats, but more rocks, i wonder if more commanders are active in an area over a period of time ( days, weeks etc) if there is some degree of upgrading mechanic, where rocks, but if x commanders become active we might start to see in a month more crashed nav beacons and other humany things, it would be nice if it worked that way, or it could be a static measure. Where hyponia initative is seeing human items, to date ive only found rocks, meteors and thats about it.

Side note i am getting a lot of ctds on this planet it could just be weekend server hijinks as usual but its interesting. Ill certainly see if the rest of this new region has anything in store.

Im sure if i remain the only one this far out i will eventually discover something attractive. Other commanders passing through or looking for a target destination thats a bit further than usual are still encouraged to jump on board

Anyway a nice shot of the ice fields

More to come in coming days

Well only an hour to play today, the best candidate system i got of interest today has been this little system, i may land on a few of the carbon dioxide geyser moons tomorrow.
