DSS (Detailed Surface Scanner) Bug still around - any tips?

Not sure if its a graphical thing or if someone has a trick - If you're in the process of mapping planet - you get jumped by a pirate - you lose the probe grid you developed - you still have a percentage of progress but now you can't see where the probes dropped.

Is there any tips to avoiding this?

Granted - I lose an eff bonus so its not a terrible thing - but its annoying.

PS: happens if you recover or you submit and kill said dirty pirate.

I honestly can not recall ever having been interdicted while mapping. Maybe because I only ever map WW, ELW or terraformables.

Its not a frequent occurrence - but its a pain - had nothing in the cargo bay - well - not until I nuked his rear end - but still.
