DSS do more or Bookmark planetary POIs

Now i know that POIs are randomly generated. But what about instances when there is a crashed alien ship, or alien site? Its already tedious enough that we have to scourge the internet to find out about these visual treasures. But when we get to that said planet or moon, it is very hard to low wake (or drop out of Orbital cruise) at that precise coordinate. It would be beneficial for us to bookmark a said coordinate of a planet, or if we use our Detailed surface scanner, that should tell us if anything there is interesting there as well, and have it on the planet to where we can select to fly there. Not just a randomly generated PoI, but stuff FD placed there strategically.

I know i am missing out of a ton of material but if it wasnt for google, youtube and so forth i wouldnt know about alien structures, gnosis and so forth. Make it easier for us to explore these places.

I've put in a similar complaint some time back before the fixes that occurred with structural health costs being a gold sink and that suggestion was either ignored or put low on the to-do list. (Specifically on the Tip Off Missions I often get when working Federation Reputation in Ceos/Sothis).

I'm finding myself ambivalent to the suggestion. Part of the reason has to do with the fact that treasure hunting in real time (even for a casual scavenger hunter like myself), word of mouth is still the most precise way of finding something in an imperfect universe. But even with word of mouth coupled with experience in knowing the area doesn't guarantee you're going to be able to find it.

Why should the game be easier than that?

Do you honestly need your breadcrumbs to lead you to exactly the same spot as it would be like getting into your car and going to the local supermarket for a pint of ice cream?

The other part of the reason has to do with the pride of accomplishment of being able to determine where something is based on the word of mouth of the POI, even with videos found on YouTube and in Twitch Streams.

Must everything be handed to us easily in order to experience the wonder?

Well, my issue with this is that when i know exactly where to go to find the treasure, it shouldn't be my flight skill at level 100 to drop out of orbital cruise to a designated coordinate. Especially when i know exactly where to look. I dont mind being off by a mere 10-50 km... But when im off sooo far that it will take me up to 3-4 hours of flying, thats when i take a step back and realize that this is still a video game and im supposed to be having fun. I did a lot of digging to find a crashed alien ship and the only barrier from me getting there was simple navigational bookmarking. Even if someone posted the wrong planet, or coordinates, then that should be the barrier from me getting to a "treasure".
So even if i get word of mouth for a said location.. It shouldn't take me a significant part of a real day to get to that coordinate. Next, Breadcrumbs. First that UBA, if it wasnt for the internet, i would have not know where to even look for it. Palin dont even give me a direction to go. So i could have did like the average Joe would have done which was cruise around maia. But since i knew to hang out around HIP 147799 (something like that) if i get there and have it on my ship... Someone or something should have told me to crack the damn egg open... Palin had no problem reaching me to give me this mission, tell me what to do to complete it. For a game that has a vast amount of material in it. Its sad that we have to look places thats not in the game (internet, youtube) to even know about these treasures. I have two people who totally lost interest in this game because they didnt believe me when i said there way more into this game then what meets the eye. But their valid argument is that if they have to put the controller down to find the extra content in this game, then they might as well play something else. My 9yr old son loves the game, but do you think he is about to research on his own for such things? He just want to play.

Point in direction you want to go, angle nose up 80%, enter SC, angle nose back down to around 5%, nose down a few % from desired target, anywhere on the planet in five minutes. No-one flies for three to four hours to get anywhere if they have coordinates, there are many better ways to do it, it just takes a little practice and advice from people more experienced. Marking all permanent POI's with bookmarks would basically make planetary exploration boring.

Ok I am not against people being able to set a personal temporary bookmark if they already have the coordinates, some people rarely go down to planets after all, but lets not mark every single interesting thing with a big yellow beacon, we are supposed to be exploring after all. :D

I would like the personal temporary bookmarks as you said, for meetups with other commanders and so on. As for the POIs, I think there should be a mix of permanent and random POIs. The permanant ones light up when you do the DSS scanner, the random ones you will need to search for.

Somthing like this would be superb: https://imgur.com/a/3Em6c#DR63N0U

Well, maybe its just me. But its was very hard to even fly down a coordinate longitude or latitude line. But thanks for the advice, i tried it a few times before i posted it, but when flying in SC it is very hard to land exactly where you need to when flying at a very high speed. Which is why i would like to bookmark a said location on a planet. Which makes it easier for me to hit.

If your target is close in SC keep the throttle at zero to keep your speed low, you can even climb up to orbital cruise and set throttle at zero to slowly cruise around a planet. For long distances without coordinates I estimate the direction, say 45% and keep the compass on that heading. I suspect the reason you are having trouble flying down the coordinate lines is joystick flying, that can be challenging, a lot of the time on the planet surveys I just unplug flight controllers and use keyboard controls. Joystick is nice for canyons and combat but for long straight flight you want something that only takes deliberate input. Even in glide and orbital cruise I use keyboard, using joystick in glide you are buffeting all over the place, pull the joystick, it settles down and is suddenly smooth.

Just set up some controls for key board flight, I use A D for left right, I K for nose up down, Z C for roll left right, that's all you need.

We already have some surface POI's marked, tourist sites and beacons that show up when a planet is scanned using DSS, I think just a personal way point would solve most problems for people. Lets hope we get it in the next patch, oh and some decent bookmarks in the galaxy map!
