The DSS signal filter can differentiate between different types of location signals, but if only one is present there is no way to know what specific type of lifeform or formation it's coming from. In the case of lifeforms, it could be bacteria or something that's actually visible. Making the filter selection a toggle between "All" and the detected signal type in those situations would solve that problem easily.
