DSS Filters not working as intended?

Apologies if this is old news of something everyone else already knows, I've been absent for a while after Odyssey came out, but decided to come back to give it a go. However, I'm running into some trouble when trying to hunt down biological and geological signals on planets. The filters don't appear to do anything, always presenting exactly the same identical map. I've looked at screenshots in others threads and they filter through and get completely different maps (although, sometimes similar ones for similar things, but even then not exactly identical unchanging images). Is this something that used to work but is now broken? I've tried a few planets with the same result, but maybe I'm just really unlucky and that for most planets it does change?

I think you probably just picked a bad example, IME, geysers and fumaroles tend to be found in the same area, while bacterium is normally found on flat ground. Chances are that if you land in the blue area you'll find all 3 close to each other. Scan some more and you might find that the blue tainted areas change dramatically.

It is working as well at it ever has since the alpha (when it was an actual heatmap and colour coded quite well)
It shows where features can be, but not are, with vulcanism (and bacteria, apparently) having to potential to occur over most of the body.

Not a lot of help, I know, but it atl east tells you where not to find them!

Ok thanks, I'll keep looking! :) I was just thrown by how in the ones I've experienced, it hasn't changed at all (not just similar, but not a single pixel difference between biological [bacterial] and two different types of geological), so I presumed it wasn't working properly. But, I'm glad this isn't a known bug or anything like that - so I'll just have to explore more and get better outcomes! xD

No bug, vulcanism will almost always show as the same because, well, if an area is volcanic it will have all the different features. Keep in mind some bio is indeed actually dependent on vulcanism, so if bio and vulcanism is showing identical pattern then there's a good chance that is the case.

What I'm learning is that you need to fly very low and VERY slow so that the geo actually spawns in, else you just fly past before anything spawns in. So you go low, wait, fly slow and watch at like 100m or less.....Science! How sad it is this feature of a heat map and proper spawning was abandoned like the bio mini game. =(

You should try to use the external cam.
Helped me a lot with spotting things at higher speeds, especially bacterium

Yeah, fly down, take the time to land and get so you get first footfall, by that time the geo will have popped in, as an example, I flew right by these the first time;

Low lying active features like geysers and lava spouts take a few seconds to actually start working after you get in range to see them so you won't spot them flying to fast, the large fumaroles on the other hand can be seen early because they stand out from the ground.
