DSS recently faulty

I have a problem with DSS usage. I fire a probe, usually one at a time so I can see which area on the front and back of the planet my probe has hit and covered, so I can gauge how to launch the next probe. Wherever that covered area had occured, the change in colour used to stay there, but now it disappears within a second. How am I supposed to determine where to send my next probes? The covered areas are no longer covered.Once 100% surveyed, after a lot of probes, the heatmap seems to work reasonably.

After a bit of practice surely you work out a pattern and number that covers just about any size planet? For a planet that needs 7 I fire 5 within a few seconds, the last is usually off before the first has hit. For a 6 probe planet I fire 4, 1 in the center of the visible hemisphere and the rest in a pattern 120% apart aimed halfway behind. It would seem.....highly inefficient to wait for 1 to finish before firing the next.

Yes it's hard to see these days but you don't really need to see, practice and experiment with patters and it will soon be automatic. Of course it's important to ensure your position is the same distance from the planets to ensure your pattern works well, but it's quite easy one you get used to it. These days unless there's some extra stuff on the planet I want to visit I don't even wait for them to hit, I am already on my way to the next target before the I fired at is scanned.

Just to further explain, the coloured shading is still there, but with all the colour adjustments and surface changes Odyssey has undergone the colour contrast between scanned and unscanned areas is extremely low so it is very difficult to see. Given the correct lighting I can still see it, but on some bodies it's almost invisible. It's probably something that indeed needs fixing for new players coming into the game working out how to use the DSS, I do suggest either a bug report or voting on another report on the same topic, if there are any.

Thanks Codger. Duly recorded and submitted on the issue tracker.
Veronica, the colour shading of the probed area is very much visible but my
point is that it disappears within a second so I can't calculate (and that's
part of the fun for me) where to send my second or subsequent probes.

This is what I see, this is the back side of the planet I am in the process of scanning, the front side is all the same colour because my probe covers the entire front side, so it looks like the mapped area has vanished.

The black part is unprobulated (the bottom diagonal left of the body), the slightly lighter part is probulated, if your probes cover the entire front side you may not see any unprobulated areas and it may look like the scanned area has vanished, but it hasn't! Do you see this if you switch to the rear planet view?

No. On my probed planets I get the paler blue showing the probe(s) that you show here
but only for a fraction of a second. The paler colour disappears leaving just darkness.

I have had this happen occasionally. When it does, it seems to be system-wide. In any case, I think there is still a bug in there that needs to be fixed.

Still happening here but as I have upgraded my DSS it's not causing so much consernation
as I seem to be able to scan a 6 probe planet in 2 or 3 probes by pot luck aiming mostly.
I will try to report a bug shortly ( it would be a bonus if other sufferers did so too) but will not hold my breath for a fix.
