DSSA - Apollo 18 - The Trojan Belt
Introduction
The DSSA (Deep Space Support Array) is a project to deploy a network of support Carriers all over the galaxy to help explorers in their deep space travels. Those Carriers, offered by individuals, groups, factions or squadrons, would remain in a fixed and public location for at the very least a full year, open to all, with at least repair services, at a fair price (other services are at the owner's liberty). Beacons in the profound night, they would form a mesh of safe harbours for anyone who would need a rest stop. (credit: Qohen Leth)
In support of this, the DSSA Gene Roddenberry has been procured and commissioned for a two year mission to support the DSSA in the Trojan Belt to provide explorers with refuel/repair/shipyard/UC services in deep space.
Benefits
Future benefits for supporting the DSSA;
There has been much debate as to the purpose of the new Drake class of carrier. Like many new adventures in the Milky Way galaxy, no one can anticipate the impact this new class of ship will have on mankind. There are many that are content with the way things are, safe within "The Bubble", thumbing their noses at the credits being spent on a mission to post a large ship in the vast emptiness.
The same could be said of the ancient Apollo missions to put the first man on the moon. Many ridiculed the missions as a waste of money and time. That the moon was a barren rock of no value. Imagine if mankind had never taken those first steps. Imagine if we don't take the next step now.
Benefits? We can't even imagine the possibilities.
Departure
Proposed Date: Jun 16, 3306
Time: To be determined by crew mates
Destination region: The Trojan Belt
Destination system: Loijoae ZV-T c17-0
Distance: Approximately 40,000 Ly
Operational Support
The Roddenberry will require support along the way to refuel as needed to reach The Trojan Belt. All commanders are welcome to crew the Roddenberry for exploration and mining. The intention is to have a positive crew who supports one another in their endeavors, creating lasting friendship. Of all the benefits, this is probably the best one.
Communications
Feel free to contact me through the forums. You can also reach me via DSSA Gene Roddenberry Discord at https://discord.gg/wsAuxhx. If nothing else, drop by and show your support.
I appreciate your time and all the dedication of the commanders around the galaxy. I look forward to seeing you in the black!

Benefits
Future benefits for supporting the DSSA;
- All DSSA Carriers could become well-known staging posts for deep space travellers and expedition organisers to utilise when planning their journeys, as well as potential mining outposts; where miners get to ply their trade in some of the remotest and visually stunning mining locations so far discovered.
- If the aforementioned mining outposts become popular, then DSSA Carrier locations may become hubs for the establishment of micro colonies (if the rumoured base-building becomes a thing).
- Additionally, the establishment of deep space supply and trade routes for players wishing to help keep the Array up and running will be encouraged via this project and other events to follow.
- The launch of each DSSA Carrier as its sets off on its maiden voyage will be an event in itself. And each mission that is sent out will provide opportunities for players to take part in the logistics of getting these behemoths to their respective destinations.
- Finally, the DSSA will be the foundation on which DW3 will be built upon - and more details of this will be announced once FDev reveal information on the 'new era' update.
