Dual ELW

Just a quick question, and I ask because...I have no idea how to post screenshots. In the whole search for earth likes, how rare/common are a pair of ELW orbiting each other? Oh with a WW almost within spitting distance.

I handed them in a while back so I already have my name plastered over them, but was just curious as to how rare a find it was?

quite rare. envy you!

- put your pictures on a 3rd party site like imgur and links here - picture upload was disabled month ago.

Rare - found a pair meself :)

BTW, you can use a 3rd party app to auto-convert your screenshots and auto-upload to imgur.

My app does it and I believe EDDiscovery does too - there are others : http://edcodex.info/?m=tools&cat=16

Oh and my twin ELW's, found near the Formidine Rift...

Sweet...I assumed it was fairly common as ELW go and that's about 20 or so under me belt...I don't keep records though just a couple bookmarks on the ones I like.

If it helps then this one is at...Chraufao QY-S E3-16. Binary landing so some care needed.

Ye I know that part goe, and even have an account on photobucket I never use...it's just I haven't figured out the other part of how to get them from there to here, and last time I tried, I sent the wrong picture which got me a week long ban from a different forum, not ED btw.

Computers were never my strong point in life, I just play them and make do. Got no friends anyway so nobody to show off to...was just me curiosity got the better of me ^^

If you're an explorer, you have friends here - plenty ;)

Anyway - my app will convert from the game-saved format (BMP) to either JPG or PNG, and can automatically upload them to imgur. It'll also record where you've been jumping to.

It's due for an update Soon[tm] as well ;)

Out of my 620, I've found 11 "doubles". It seems (to me anyway) those orbiting each other are most common, then planet / moon combos. More rare, are multiple ELWs orbiting different stars in the same system. You stand a slightly better chance finding a pair, than you do a ringed ELW (once again, IMO)

If I remember what my pw fer photobucket is, I'll work it out. Its a binary landing but all the planets are orbiting a third yellow star which is completely independent from the binary on the landing. They all about 300k ls from each other. Never found a ringed but...early days.

Ah ye now didn't mean here in game...meant in rl. None my m8s in rl play any pc games at all, they all xbox players and all from different games. Ah yeah I see how what I said doesn't look good lol...that'll teach me to proof read ^^

EDD doesn't. We do the screenshot format conversion and renaming with system name bit but there's no automatic upload.

I glanced at imgur's API when I saw you'd implemented it but AFAIK that's as far as it's gone...

Out of 63 err 62 1st discovered, I've found 1 of these.
I've never found a ringed ELW or one as a moon.
YET

There be some on the way to Jacques:

But yeah, really rare. If you find 3 in a system you go to Elite Explorers subreddit and get all the applause :D <- I only know of 1 and that was on the Distant Worlds expedition.

Screenshots have to be done through imgur (using [.img]linkhere[/img.] tags without the .'s). They disabled forum image uploading.

I know this might come as somewhat of a shock, but I have absolutely no idea what a sub reddit is. I didn't grow up with computers like many others here have, so an awful lot of the stuff that goes on here goes right over the top of me head. If I find a treble, I'll post it up and someone else can get applause, I'm none too bothered bout stuff like that and would rather stay out of the limelight so to speak...I'm very shy. I been playing with pc fer a long time but really don't know very much about them...Mr PC world does all my repairs and I literally don't even know how to put a stick of ram in. My daughter keeps me right most the time. I know the basic stuff and I get by most the time so long as things don't start breaking, and it's an older machine so it's not beyond happening from time to time.

Was supposed to get into jacques over the weekend, but keep getting distracted in the region I'm passing through. Not in any huge hurry but I'm getting there. Took a huge detour after getting bored with the formidine thing a while back, although I did actually find an ELW on the top right corner of the eafots region on the way out of it...nothing special just a single but every little helps ^^

I've found some pretty nice things on this trip, and this is my longest time out so far...7 weeks this weekend and still going strong on 92% hull but lost one of the SRV couple days ago. Pitstop at Jacques, then into the core fer me...I'm doing what they say ye shouldn't and I'm going into the light ^^

I've got 18 doubles and one triple. Of the doubles, only one is ELWs around different stars and 11 are binary pairs (barycentric orbit round each other). The triple is a binary pair plus another.

Seems I got a wee bit of catching up to do with all of that, and it's cool to know the trebles are out there. Seems there's a few new bells and whistles coming in the next update too which is sweet ^^

the trip to Beagle Point (i am currently sat there right now) has seen me find 19 ELW i reckon 5 of them are discovered as a lt of things are on teh way to BP as you get closer. but the rarest thing i have found is helium rich Gas Giants i have 3 of them and i found all 3 of them in a the same system.

Yep, Helium rich gas giants are about as rare as it comes. However, if you find one in a system then there may well be others. That's because the gas giant helium percentage is the same for all gas giants in a system (I guess the stellar forge can be forgiven some simplifications). If the percentage is above a certain amount then class I giants are reclassified as helium rich.
