Dual Stick/ Win 10 indexing shenanigans

So, apparently Windows 10 randomly decides sometimes to dice the USB controller devices' index arround.
The result is that today my left and right T.16000m Joysticks got reversed.
Is there a tool arround that helps me to not need to rebind my controlls/ involves creating a virtual controller using TARGET/ reasamble both Joysticks after each n-th reboot?

Are you sure this is W10's fault?

Since 2.4 dropped, I've been having "issues" with my HOTAS where it'll suddenly become seriously unresponsive.

If I alt-tab out of the game and run an app to monitor the joystick's raw inputs, they're still fine, indicating that the problem might be in ED.

FWIW, I also use a USB number-pad for secondary controls and that has been throwing a wobbly in ED since 2.4 too.
Every so often it'll freeze up, I'll alt-tab out of the game, open up Notepad, type stuff on the number-pad and it all seems to be working fine even though ED is ignoring it.

In both cases, unplugging and reconnecting the HOTAS and number-pad fixes it.

Hadn't got around to filing a bug report yet.

unplugging and switching around the usb connectors doesn't work?

Yeah, that worked... for now - after I tried juggling arround all kind of USB connector combinations.

Nah, it really was Windows re-indexing my USB devices. I could read the details in the registry - but thanks to Win 10 hyper security I could not effectevly edit them.

Happens to me as well - I use dual t1600ms. Bloody annoying because you essentially have to get the screwdriver out to swap the thumbrests over etc.
