'Dude' Were is my friend?? - A Solution For People With Friends

Ok, you have been talking for months about this game, and your 'special' group of friends all decided to pre-order together in the mindset that you will all play together (this being an MMO and everything right?)

Instead you are placed randomly across the galaxy and note it will take a significant time to get your 'band of brothers' into a group and enjoy the game.

I propose a 'single use' hyper drive unit (a prototype that can be used to cross huge distances - it is limited to a single use due to the huge amount of radiation put out that using it again in a single life time will result in instant death (or whatever back story you want).

This will allow a group of new players a single chance to congregate at this chosen destination and go forth.

Anything that would improve the multiplayer gameplay. Im having trouble finding my friends in the same system in the same group...

lol, the chat keeps saying can' t connect and last night we hooked up in front of a station' s entrance and we could not see each other.
i'd like to do missions with my friend as we bought the game on what the ddf and mr Braben said but it seems there is a LOT of work
to be done in this area as well. Just being in the same 'dimension' doesn' t even allways work.

I guess you'll have to wait until they implement wings early next year. I have friends waiting for this before they buy.

I like the idea of a way to jump to your friends make it limited use and only work with friends. Maybe call it a 'Friendship Drive' :)

However, the reality is that right now there isn't much to do with your friends, and you'll probably have a hell of a time staying in the same instance. Game is basically single player until sometime early next year, very disappointing.

Isnt the point of this group game option about making new friends instead of everybody from beta joining up together?

I know a lot of people pre-ordered the but still you should of expected to be placed randomly all over the place. what you could all do is start heading towards a place which you all can get to. I suppose you chat to each other online through voice chat? well until you meet up isnt that good enough for now, gives you something to work towards

Yes, this game needs some major improvements to friend multiplayer. One of the only online only games I have see that practically discourages playing with a friend.

No way to meet up easily.
No way to travel easily together.
No way to share profits from playing together.
No way to trade money other than tedious cargo trading.
Hell, even simply talking to a friend is one of the most tedious experiences I have had recently.

This morning I wanted to give my friend some money to buy a Viper. It took us an hour to finally get to see each other(we were already in the same system at this point). Then another 30 minutes or so to transfer and sell Imperial Slaves(he only had 6 cargo slots in an Eagle).

Not really an enjoyable experience, that.

You do know that you can add extra cargo area to a ship no matter what that ship is.

I started off with a side winder, removed the shields and the scanner and got an extra 6 in cargo space. after a few well chosen runs I made enough to get a hauler, and so on.

If you adapt you can over come all hurdles.

I am currently looking to test out my new setup, which I have been at all day, and I am going to wonder around a nice looking star until some silly pirate makes a mistake at attacks me.

Nah, I didn't know you could modify ships. I've been flying my Asp stock this whole time?!

Not sure how this pertains to a thread about bad multiplayer. But there were no cargo parts available at the station we were finally able to meet up at.

How do you adapt to a crappy multiplayer system, or lack of one, besides just not playing with friends, or wasting a bunch of your play time just trying to get in the same instance as them?

Back in the day when I was playing MMRPG's we used something called Team Speak. This meant that we could talk to each other whilst we were on hunts and stuff. I am sure if you are deturmind enough you could use something which allows you and your friends to talk to each other whilst hunting.

Yes they have not made it easy for people at the moment, but you have to understand that MAYBE just Maybe that its a bug which they are trying to fix, or a feature they want to bring out just after the Christmas holidays to allow people who have just paid cash out on the game to catch up with us.

I have had conversations through the game already, its possible to play a game without spending time with your mates bashing the same person.


I am not trying to be negative towards any of you, but we make friendships in games because we all have the same interests in the game. Next there will be guilds and factions where everybody will go around killing each other over a bit of a "he hit me first spat"

Im not looking for a single player game - I hope the multiplayer-part is high on the To-do-list - if not then Im out of here...
